Since first seeing one of these here on the Forum, I wanted to find one.
well after a summer of Antique stores, we finally found one I was willing to spend the money on.
#9 Griswold in perfect condition! Can't wait to give it a try.
Anyone have any suggestions, recipes, secrets, etc. ??

That is my favorite waffle iron. If you have it cleaned and seasoned well, your ready to go. I spray mine with cooking spray on both sides. Put it over the burner about medium heat. Once side one is heated, flip it over and let side two get started. Then add the batter. Be sure your recipe has oil in it. Otherwise they may stick. For a decent waffle while camping I use Krusteez mix. When the waffle starts to puff up slightly flip it over. Once you start to smell the waffle it is done. Don't be discouraged if the first one does not turn out. Once you get the hang of the right heat of the iron it goes real good.

Mine are both low bases. The 9 is on the left and an 8 on the right.

The old Chinese cooking proverb works well for me. That is "Hot wok, cold oil, food won't stick". Heat your iron before you oil it. I have never had a sticker using this method. That works with any type of pan. The only time I get stickers is when I either forget that rule or when I don't re apply after the second waffle. For the stickers, nothing removes them faster than a bamboo skewer.
