Rocket Stove for lighting charcoal chimmney?

Postby ae6black » Wed Mar 21, 2018 1:25 pm

Has anyone ever used a rocket stove for lighting the charcoal in a chimney? I hate the mess I get with using newspaper for ignition when I am out camping. At home I just set the chimney on my gas grill auxiliary burner. No mess and right to it.

Weber Cubes, you'll never use newspaper again.

$4 for 24 cubes.

If I am lazy I will set the loaded chimney on the propane cook top for a few minutes.

I'm with Bob on this one, being of the lazy mentality also !! - the Camp Chef stove - either one burner of the 2 burner Explorer stove or my single burner one works just fine for lighting up the charcoal - one burner = 30000 btu's of instant HEAT/FIRE !! :D

I ended up getting a Silverfire rocket stove and by golly, not only is it a lot of fun to play with, it has now become my go to charcoal lighter. It works great for that purpose as well as for chicken stir fry.
