Postby Kayperkay » Thu Feb 17, 2011 3:03 pm

Come join us for Jefferson State Tearjerkers 1st. official gathering of the season at Black Butte Lake May 20th and 21st 2011. We will be staying at the lovely Buckhorn Campground

Reservations can be made at Recreation.gov Each site is $15.00 per night...Friday and Saturday.

Grant and I have reserved site BH44 ( we would be more than happy to share with someone) Sites 39 thru 45 can all hold at least two trailers and site #41 is a drive thru. All sites are available as of Feb. 16th 2011 All sites have a table, fire pit, lantern pole, water spigot close by, Restrooms were warm and clean and the showers were great. If we fill sites 39-45 we wil all be together in the upper area. There is also some additional parking areas close by.
Here is a map of Buckhorn Campground with our area circled in orange.

As usual, we will have our Saturday night Dutch Oven Pot Luck, but Eunice and I decided we would do something like Chili and Cornbread Friday night as well. So bring a dish and a plate and chow down

Close by...about 10 miles north of Orland California is the little town of Corning....Home of the Famous "Olive Pit"....the best darn olives in the country  . Also close to Corning is Rolling Hills Casino for you gamblers and Sevillano Links for the golfers in the group. An 18 hole true links style course  at Rolling Hills Casino.

Fishing:

Crappie, largemouth and smallmouth bass, spotted bass, striped bass, channel catfish, Florida bluegill and green sunfish are the major game fish. A valid State of California fishing license is required.

We did change the date....With Whitethorn the 4th. weekend of April and the Dam the last, we thought it was just too much to do it again less than 2 weeks later so we bumped it up a week.
Chico is only 20 some miles from Orland, You should be able to do both  there's Friday and Sunday as well, but at the very least with being so close.....come out for the day....and congratulations on your daughters graduation from College, you must be proud. :applause: See ya at the Dam 8)

We just made our reservation. We'll be in site 39. Looking forward to seeing Black Butte Lake. This was the very first place Rob water-skied as a kid. He was born and raised in Chico.

I'm a maybe. It depends on my work schedule.
Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind? Ask yourself these simple questions every time you are in doubt about any action.

YAY...!! So far we have sites 39, ?41, 42, 43 and 44 reserved..looks like we will fill that area...no problem....
no worries if they are all full online....each site is huge and can hold 2 or more trailers with room to spare. Especially sites 39 and 41 and 43.....have tons of space and we save $$$ by sharing. :applause:

We even have a couple of day trip visitors coming.

If your not into the traditional Jefferson State Style of group type camping, heck at Sam Brown last year, I think we packed 5 trailers including Bigfoot into my site.....sites 35, 36, 37 and 38 are close by just below our area on the lake....however we are encouraging everyone to tuck in together up top with us. 8)

ONLY 9 days to go..... I know I told most of you at the Dam gathering....but for those who weren't able to make it up to Shasta....We will do a Pot Luck Friday night as well....keep it simple for those of you traveling Friday after work.....grab a salad kit or a bucket of tater salad and some chips..... don't worry about cooking when you arrive. I'll have a big pot of Chili and Cornbread goin' on. We will also do our regular Pot luck Saturday as well, I have heard that my friend Fran will be making fresh mozzarella cheese at this gathering ....so I'm thinkin' an Italian theme for Saturday...?
See ya'll soon 8) 8)
