We are planning a trip to Bandon/Coos Bay area at the end of March. We are then going over to Sisters. Anyone have suggests on places to visit? We will be hotel camping. We are looking for places to stay on the beach. Also any good places to eat. What are some attractions to see or visit?

We will be travelling with our children (ages 4 and 9).

Thank you,
Dan

Hi Dan,
We've stayed at the Windermere in Bandon. It's beachside (maybe a 100 yds or so to the beach, great views). They've got some nice big, older (but clean) units with kitchens etc for families and the prices aren't too bad either. They've got newer units too.

The south jetty is a good beach access. Great view of the lighthouse and river also. Only about a mile to the beach from oldtown Bandon.

And since you've got kids, you've gotta stop at the 'Cranberrry Sweets and more" shop in old town Bandon (free candy samples!)

Best regards,
Richard

oh, I almost forgot, the Bandon Fish Market in old town right in front of the boat basin is a good stop for fish and chips. There is also a good little Thai food restaurant downtown (called what else, 'Thai Thai') if you like that sort of thing.

They're remodeling, but they were supposed to be done by the end of March.

Thank you Richard for the suggestion on the Windermere. We actually had decided on that place today. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed it. It will be great to be able to just walk out the back door and onto the beach. We have never stayed that close, my wife will love it.

Also thank you for the other suggestions. We will be staying in Bandon for 4 nights, so we should have lots of time to see things. We do plan on going to the wildlife zoo just south of Bandon.

Dan, the "Gallery" used to be a great place to eat in Sisters, last I heard it still is. Sorry, can't help in the lodging department. Also, the High Desert Museum south of Bend on hwy 97 was worth the stop if you're going that way.
