IRG Activities for the Chicks?

Postby tupelosue » Sun Jan 22, 2012 1:03 pm

No judgment or criticism intended towards anybody, but many of the activities planned at IRG seem guy-oriented: horseshoes-mostly guys, light-up-mostly guys, DO cooking -mostly guys (  ) so just wanted to see if there is any interest in other activities?

Few years back I was into line dancing and did a short class; thanks to Donna and Lee's mom for coming :D but I'm not line dancing these days and would have to seriously brush up my skills to do it again.

Mostly it was fun for me to dress up!!

Here's some fashion show ideas as well!!

http://girl-camping.blogspot.com/2012/0 ... drobe.html

Any other suggestions, rather than just sitting, relaxing, watching the guys do everything? (gee, that doesn't sound so bad after all!!)

Open spots on the schedule

Postby The Teardrop Nanny » Sun Jan 22, 2012 1:27 pm

Hi Sue- Thanks for that suggestion. What do WE want to do?

Open invitation to those attending:
We have left openings on our schedule to allow those individuals who want to pursue (organize) something and show it to the group. Last time we penciled in (at the event) and posted a daily agenda board so people could decide what they wanted to attend. We will do the same this year. Last event we had cooking demos and Laughing Yoga that were added in by members of the group who were willing to teach/share.

So, if you want to do Laughing Yoga again, (thanks, Marge at 2010) or a workshop on decorating your teardrop, or how to epoxy it, or a dutch oven demo, or.....there are lots of ideas/creative people on board. PM Dean or myself with an idea for an event you might be willing to set up and run. This event has always had a good flow of things to do and some of them have been organized by those attending. Things change as determined by our attendees, or as new interest arise.

The Fortuna Auto Expo is also going on the same weekend, so we tried not to schedule out too much at this time as to allow people to take a short ride into the town to see the many happenings there.

Dean and I> WE HAVE LEARNED TO PACE OURSELVES NOW....SO WE HAVE some free TIME TO ENJOY THE EVENT AND VISIT WITH THE MANY FOLKS WHO COME. In planning our event schedule I look at what/where Dean and I need to do/be so that we have enough time to execute it properly.

So, what's of interest to you ladies?? (and gents are welcome too)
A pole dancing lesson??
Petticoats at the potluck??
Making a Teardrop Scrapbook??
Bike or scooter rides?

Let's hear from you!

I hope to do a little scooter riding, and will bring an extra helmet along in case someone wants to ride cupcake!

I didn't know about the Laughing Yoga, but that sounds fun!!

I would be happy to wear a petticoat to a Potluck! Just wouldn't want to be the only one!!

Hey Sue and Joanie, I don't have any ideas, but love the idea of looking for ideas (I even have 5 of the petticoats, from my former life as a square dancer!). My stupid (hopefully) healing thumb keeps me from doing the things I am generally pretty good at (scrapbooking, quilting, even DO cooking), and I am with the Nanny, I want plenty of lazy time, but wouldn't mind a chance for some other fun stuff too. Have to think about this a little., see if I can come up with something I can share that doesn't require a left thumb (however, my ultimate goal is I will back to as much use and painfree thumb as possible by then!). 8)

And certainly ALL these things are not "sex specific" things to do, anyone would always be open to partake in any of the activities. We know Doug quilts and lots of ladies play horseshoes. Just look how many men are following "peeing in the middle of the night" thread!

I'd be up for yoga!

What about a "stich n bitch" gathering for those of us that knit, crochet, needlework?

If we wanted to relax and just visit we could also have a "tea party".

What about a hike?

I like the stitch and bitch idea! I am actually quite experienced in most needlework, and could help folks with questions, or we could just work on our own stuff and show it off!

I vote for yoga too. I am trying to learn some Tai Chi, so if we have a person with some expertise in this area, would love to have someone lead us through a morning or afternoon tai chi program.

All of the above ideas sound good to me, except the pole dancing ( no upper body strength :(
I will work on some ideas for some teardrop crafts.
Maybe something needle felted or fabric stamped?

I could go for the "stitch and bitch". I haven't done anything like that for several years and would like to have an excuse to start a project or two. Pole dancing........only after the bartending class.

Hey! :lady: How about that toilet paper relay game where a team member holds the toilet plunger between her legs with the toilet paper roll on it and runs with it and then passes it to the next person on her team, who is also holding a plunger between her legs...no hand use allowed? That one is worth a few laughs. (Some of you have seen that video posted here.)

Ah, well....Somebody will come up with something.

? Why is horse-shoe throwing and DO cooking only for men?
