Crusher in the Tushar

I was privileged to see these athletes this weekend ... amazing stamina and nerves of steel.

I was at the transition from dirt road to pavement on the Junction side (about half way point) and watched the leaders and most of the field come down and the lead pack on their way back up. I saw many "Hail Mary's", "hallelujah's", and whoops of joy to finish that extreme washboard/gravel/dirt downhill and get back on a paved surface.

Congratulations to all the champions who finished and to those who even had the guts to try.

I was just at a challenging race myself. The Carrabassett Backcountry Challenge. It was a 100k mountain bike race, with 9000 feet of climbing. Much of it quite technical and rough.
