It seems the bike was more in favor than the horse for getting around the bush in early Australia. A lot of technical information on early bikes as well.
I am part way through reading the book, just thought I would mention it.

I have finished it.
Something I did not know was the country area I live in appeared to have the highest density of bicycles per head of population in the world at the time.
Flat open country, little water or feed for horses made the bike the best form of transport for prospectors etc.
A good read.
