Don't be. It's too hot. Dangerouly, so. I'm working for a few minutes, then cooling off for what seems like hours. My poor house AC is struggling. And I don't want to see the bill that's coming. :NC

Hey, Bob, it's OK. I was taking 60 min breaks for every 30 min bit of work on my TD. It's sitting in the shade, but it was still over 100* inside. We humans can only stand so much extreme temps...whether it's freezing at Turkey Run in January, or sweating to the hot temps in the yard in July :lol:

Oh, and of course, we're reading about your build. I think it's great that you've come up with a solution for your living arrangements. Keep up the good work!!

Mopped on a gallon of the fence posts and foundation coating on the otherwise unprotected floor before our predicted Sunday rains. So with the black stick goo on the floor I will be forced to work outside of the caboose on a taller ladder. It will take a few days for the gunk to cure to the point I will be able to work on it again.

Installed the remaining front purlins and after an hour and a half I gave up.

Well it's Monday again and despite the oppressive heat I was able to get a little bit done.
The couple hours between 7 am and 9:30 - 10:00 was able to get a dab done before the heat became unbearable.

Here are some new pics Image

I like the Kabota orange It is a red orange that is kinda cheerful and looks great with the white trim!

Talked about aligning the legs so the siding would fall correctly. Here is a cago strap pulling the header section into alignment so the second sheet would fall correctly. This shot gives a good feel about the barrelled ceiling :D

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Image
Had a bowed stud that wasn't falling at 2 foot on center so I used a bar clamp to pull it into alignment.
Image
The wheel wells got some reinforcement and it also added a nailer for the siding. Need to black goop the whole mess yet.
Here are the front and side shots. The cupalo and rear purlins are just laying in place and have not yet been installed.
And once again the yard sale gods were smiling on me......... :lol:
Yep an LP set up zero clearance fireplace at the neighbors about a block from the house for $75.00
Bob,
That's almost Santa Fe Railroad Red. :D
BTW- checking with the Mrs, trying to see about making up to Tippecanoe for Friday and Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed. If finances permit, they still have some great spots open.
Looks like you got a lot done in a short period of time. :thumbsup: Might be amazing what you could acomplish if the weather breaks and you can actually give it a full day. Really starting to take shape.
Good deal on the heater too! Seems to be working quite well already :D
Yep went by the VFW in Crawfordsville (13 miles away) and their sign read 111 Degrees
Just imagine what it can do when I get it plumbed up to the gas.
This is a fiber glass faced osb called zip panel. It is great stuff I have used it for the 4x7 and the chuckwagon. I have a few chunks of it that have been laying about in the yard for almost a year with NO degradation or swelling. It is guaranteed stable for up to 6 months uncovered on a construction site.
Hi Bob,
Ah, Zip Panels. I was wondering what you were going to use for wall
shear,so that answers that. Will their surface be strong enough/OK as a long
term exterior finish? [Since it is sold as sheathing and not as an exterior finish,
will exterior paint be enough for that and UV protection or do you need an
exterior siding over it?]
'Fun to watch the progress on the 'Bagoose'.
[My nickname for it, which was what a cousin used to
call cabooses when she was a toddler.]
Cheers,
Norm/mezmo
