I like the tiny houses I've been wanting one for a while now as in my opinion they have more character then your traditional RV as well as comforts I need to be able to fit a bird cage in my trailer thats 3 feet long by 4 feet tall by 2 feet wide. I'd like to be able to cook inside on bad weather days .plus I was thinking then I could park it in the backyard and possibly rent out my house ok that might be a bit of a dream but I do like them
There is a world, just beyond now,
where reality runs a razor thin seam between fact and possibility;

Anywhere I roam where I lay my head is home....

Droid I don't believe a mini house will replace RV's or travel trailers in fact pulling them at hiway speeds would be very costly something like pulling a parachute. Mini houses shine as inlaw suites, a place for the kids to come back to and still have some independence, a sturdy home for at the lake or rv park for the season and back home or in storage the rest of the time and a great bug out place running from disaster. Shorter ocasional trips would be best for them. Sandy

Getting the floor on

Postby Sandy St. Louis » Fri May 27, 2011 10:52 pm

After the holddowns were welded the floor sections were turned over ,joined to each other making one piece and bolted with 3/8 carrige bolts to the frame. insulation was installed and a 5/8 sub floor attached. Where joining is required screws ,glue, staples, and nails are used as required glue always except end grain joints. Sandy

RE: What's in the background?

Postby mezmo » Fri May 27, 2011 11:18 pm

Hi S St L,

Just curious about the Vardo in the background. What's
the story with that?

Looks like you're off to a good start with the Tiny House
build.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

Back to building

Postby Sandy St. Louis » Sun May 29, 2011 12:33 am

To clear up somethings, being on the downward side of the hill and the very size of this build I am having help with it along with making smaller framing sections. this also increases the number of studs making the building a little over built. Pictures to follow.
