Roof time

Postby Sandy St. Louis » Sun May 29, 2011 11:06 pm

This next set of pictures show the roof being built . The rafters are installed with a selection of 3 and 4inch #8 screws along with hurricane ties . The roof sheeting 7/16 osb glued and stapled . The corrigated roofing is screwed over 35lb felt. Extra screws were installed on the leading edge of the corrigated roofing. Sandy

cieling hieght

Postby Sandy St. Louis » Sun May 29, 2011 11:40 pm

Droid , the floor to loft hieght is 6ft 4.5 inches will loose some of this with the flooring. A stair case using a landing is a good thought a closet under the landing can also work Thanks Sandy

my idea for the wall side of the staircase would be a bookshelf and then storage on the other side or possibly a bathroom under the stairs I really like your progress that your making I'd love to see it one day ....... maybe at a gathering  :applause: :applause: :applause:

RE: Stairs

Postby mezmo » Mon May 30, 2011 12:41 am

Hi S St. L,

Another possibility for interior stairs are "ship ladder stairs", with
alternating half treads. They allow for a very steep angle but large foot
support and a very small footprint.

You could even build it as two very narrow [looking at the stair treads
head-on] Japanese style stair chests side by side with their heights offset
to give the alternating half tread effect. You could then build in small
drawers of the varying depths of the tread face to the "back" of the ship
ladder stairs for storage to fit under all the treads. It' be a perfect combo
of storage and staircase with no wasted space.

Just use Google Images and put in "alternating tread stair". Ignore any
"thick" straight ladder style with the handrails - those are just a version
of a regular ladder. Look at the alternating tread designs for inspiration.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo
