home·ly

/ˈhōmlē/

adjective

1.
unattractive in appearance
synonyms:
unattractive, plain, unprepossessing, unlovely, ill-favored,

Yep homely is right.Image

We were right in the middle of buttoning down the roof so I could put on the dental molding and the wall battens when cancer reared it ugly head. I wasn't planning on losing two months build time this fall so this is where I pick up as soon as weather permits.

This side is prettier Image :D

It's a cultural thing, really. I think the British use the word "homely" to mean what we call "homey", not the negative definition we ascribe to the word! Or, if not the Brits, than it's in older writings that I've seen it. But I think my online conversations have revealed this difference in modern Brits, too.

I know there was nothing mean spirited and homey was what was meant but I had to make Dale squirm I'm just that way.

Every time I look at this picture I get mad. It is homely, homely as an unmade bed. I am ashamed to even lay claim to it as it looks so ugly.

Oh well I am looking forward to comparing it with the "after" picture this summer !

It's a lot prettier than any home I have ever built, or could ever build!! Don't sell yourself short, even if you are kinda teasing. That's a GREAT caboose!

And, yeah. Cancer. Best laid plans of mice and men, etc. I had a bout with breast cancer in 12/2013. It was soon over, but the after cancer meds to prevent any recurrences are kicking my butt. I felt 10-15 years older, within the first month of taking them. And I've got 4 (or maybe 9 or more?) more years to take them. Sigh.

I opted out of the chemo good or bad it was my choice. My doctor said I was wrong but my surgeon was so excited at the end of my surgery he could barely contain himself when reporting in to my peanut gallery. The next morning when he met me he was still as excited as a 5 year old with a run away gumball machine. All the mass came out intact and 28 harvested lymp nodes showed no signs of contamination. He was certain nothing was left behind to worry about. I am gambling he is right.

Hello Bob - Have read your builds. Great and original. I saw an ad on Syracuse NY Craigslist for a caboose on a trailer. Currently an Ice Cream Concession. Just posted it on the for sale/not mine section. Thought you might want to take a look.

Well getting geared up for warmer weather and the forward assault on the DC side of the electrics.

Ordered these today off of e bay Image

Thought it would be old school and somewhat railroad'esk.

I am going to break the ground leg rather than the hot so there is no real fear of shock or other possible trauma.

I want to get the wiring ran for 12 volt DC lighting and a 12 volt plug or two for dc fans and ac/dc compatible electronics.

Thought the knife switches might just be a little conversation starter.

A friend of mine used a 6" (or bigger) throw switch like that, for normal AC room lights. It was a fun look!

The switches need to be bigger, if you plan on using them in your laboratory-- :o

Saw a recent photo of gene wilder, whoa has he aged poorly, And of course Peter Boyle has passed away. But then again the movie was released 41 years ago
