Well it is due time for an update ! Spring is here! Well at least enough to allow me to spend the night in the caboose so Saturday night was my first night sleeping in the THOW. Put a soft CD in the CD player and left one little 4watt lamp as a night light . Burrowed down in my Bob the builder comforter ( a bad joke and yet another story) and drifted off to sleep. Early AM I popped on my new flat scene tv

Image

and watched a bit of the morning news while waiting for my little 3 dollar 4 cup coffee maker

Image

( yes Goodwill) to finish my morning coffee. I am gonna like "camping out" in real style. Getting up early and stepping out onto the 8x20 patio trailer and listening to the early morning doves cooing. I was granted 3 days of bereavement leave Friday Monday and Tuesday for the loss of my baby sister ( no condolences necessary she is so much better off) The memorial was Saturday so I used Friday to fluff up my caboose for moms inspection. She has been my biggest fan thru this build showing my pictures ,I have sent her, to anyone who would look and listen. She had never seen it in the wild and her words were poignant. " It looks just like the pictures " who would have thought !

Sounds like you're going to be very comfortable there, with all your "big house" amenities. It's been a long time coming, so glad to hear it's ready to live in. Glad to hear your mom was able to finally see it and give it her blessing. Sorry about the loss of Peg, but like you said, she's now at rest. Sending a hug.

Nice to hear that the caboose is nearing completion. Sorry to hear of your companion. Tell your mom Mike says hi!

Took a quick snap of the side door porch lights.

Image

They will be a/c and d/c capable. I think I will keep the a/c limited to less than 7 watts to avoid that
in your face glare and to just softly illuminate the steps. The d/c lamp is reflector equipped so the d/c illumination will wash upward.

I thought they were appropriate and as usual attractively priced at my favorite store (GW) for $2.99 each :D

Well at least I guessed right on this.......

BOCA NATIONAL CODE

502.1 Dwelling units. Every dwelling unit shall contain its own bathtub or shower,
lavatory, water closet and kitchen sink which shall be maintained in a sanitary, safe
working condition. The lavatory shall be placed in the same room as the water closet or
located in close proximity to the door leading directly into the room in which such water
closet is located. A kitchen sink shall not be used as a substitute for the required lavatory.

Image

Well I put a larger sink in the bath area so as to be able to wash up a few dishes without giving up counter space in the kitchen.

Image

Looks as if you can wash dishes in the bathroom but you can not wash your hands in the kitchen after a poo poo.

https://www.regulations.gov/#!documentD ... -0013-0001

Here is the proposed regulation. It does not seek to make tiny homes Illegal that I can see. It appears to be a clarification of what is defined as an RV vs a manufactured home. Manufactured homes have to comply with HUD standards that RVs are exempted from. Many RVs today could qualify as manufactured homes if the square footage is measured with the slide-outs deployed (the correct methode of measurement under current regs). While it says that manufacturers must state they are not intended for permanent residence, it does not say they can't be used as a permanent (or extended) residence by the owner. At least, not that I was able to find.

Well the redneck antenna has been improved it now has 3 heads. As an attempt to gain more line of sight range I added a right and left array and doubled the channels I could access.

Image

Mom wanted a flag pole taken down at her place so I pressed my new free flagpole into an antenna pole

Image

total cost 28 cents. ( a few screws a bolt and a few pennies drilled for washers).
