Some of the new projects from the wood shop.....

When life hands you 136 headboards Image

You can make storage benches.....Image

If they throw out 38 torn banquet chairs you can make a hall bench ( or two or three or four ) ......Image

Another picture of the shop in the snow ( wish I had moved the trailer out of the foreground. ) Image

Well the landlady spent 470 dollars on materials to add a 16 x8 front porch to the glass studio ( and wood shop) We picked it up yesterday and are about to hit it hard this morning. Will be taking pics to keep everyone updated on our progress. :pictures:

Well it has been 5 weeks since we finished the porch. It has made a great annex to the shop and my buddy Frank and I have recovered repaired and refinished about 20 pieces of furniture on it and in the shop. I started a little used furniture store and we are busy filling it with unloved and unwanted furniture that we bring back to life. The little shop has proven to be a great place to do the embellishments. A little peek at the store.....

Well the north winter wind is starting to get a bit bitter and I wanted to divert the snow drifts. I had a couple nice vinyl patio doors I found somewhere long ago at a bargain so I figured out how to build them in as a giant fixed window. :D

Speaking of hiding out at the shop....... Sunday we ran 400+ feet of rough sawn lumber thru the planer to dress it up a bit. We then ripped 90+ feet into two 45 degree strips to wrap the still unfinished corners and to add a water table board at the bottom of the siding to help hide some build boo-boos. Still have some to add to the gable rakes and above the windows to hide the sheeting seams but we gave up tired and achey and saved those 6 boards for another day.

220 FEET OF TRUE 1" X 6" BOARDS turned into almost 400 feet of trim for $110.00. Forget the big box stores and find a local sawmill.

Winter is around the corner so it was time to start getting the shop tidied up. Vacuumed up the saw dust and vacuumed out the ventless fire place. Fired it up to dry out the damp feel in the shop. 20 minutes and I was removing jacket and still warm so I turned it back off. Tossed open the door and decided to dust off the little wood stove and test fire it for those coming cold winter days. All is well and after putting 100+ tools and hardware stuffs away I still have a half a days work to finish up. I need to install 4 nice steel cabinets to have a home for some of the leftover good junque. ;)

Decided to try and protect my investment in paints and stains by installing an old youngstown steel corner cabinet in a corner of the shop. Why steel you might wonder.... Well I will be installing a 75 watt old school bulb in a protective steel reflector and wanted a non-combustable cabinet. I invested in a on at 32 off at 46 degree temperature control switch just outside of the cabinet. If the shop interior cools to below freezing my little switch will turn on the light inside the cabinet keeping my investment protected from freezing. It was not a day too soon either mowed yesterday in a short burst of freezing sleet and today we are white, white, white with snow.
