Hey Doug, it a burner... (New pictures)

Postby rainjer » Tue Jan 20, 2009 9:01 pm

My 1956 500A came today. I added some fuel and it lit right up. It will need some TLC before I am done with it. I am going to paint it blue & black and put a custom burner grate on it. More pictures to follow.

Well it is already in pieces and paint is dying. It came apart real easy. I need to get some carb. cleaner to clean the generator and some more blue paint tomorrow.

Man that was Quick! I wish I could make that kind of progress on my stoves and lanterns! I do have a boatload of parts coming from old town that should be here next week. That should help!

Man, that grate looks mangled......did they drop it or is that from excessive heat?????

75% done. I still need to clean the the generator, add the decal and make the new burner plate.

I believe that is one of the reason I was able to get it so cheap. I plan on making my own burner grate for it so it did not matter to me.

I beleive the indentation in the grate is to allow room for the funnel to pour fuel into the tank. I could be wrong.

Saddly, no. This grate should be round both on the inner & outer ring. I tried to straighten it last night but without a lot of heat, it's not happening.

It depends on the color you need. The blue is Dupli-color automotive engine paint & the black is Rustoleum paint. The silver is a Dupli-color high-temp paint. The red & green I use is Krylon. All of them a aerosol spray paint.

Here is another source for older Coleman & non-Coleman stuff.
