GOODWILL WAS VERY VERY GOOD TO ME

Postby bobhenry » Wed Oct 31, 2012 12:51 pm

Yep it was ol' farts day at Goodwill so I dropped in to nose around and guess what I found

I had been wanting a lantern carrier box as I have been carefully toteing mine around in a cardboard box with padding.

I was across the floor like a shot when I saw this carrier.

I grabbed it up and was so pleased it was marked $6.99. I knew I was getting 30% off so for $4,89 plus sales tax I now had a carrier.

I grabbed it off of the shelf and it was a bit heavy so I had to peek.

guess what I found........

dated 10/81 and still had the original instructions and the factory extra mantles tucked under the font.

Yep $5.23 total

I LOVE Goodwill

You are one lucky dude bobhenry. The goodwill in our area is very high priced and hardly ever worth going to. We have better luck going to St. Vincent depaul. We find lots of deals on camping stuff.

My closest Goodwill is in Wilmington Delaware.. Its good for cheap clothing and furniture but not much else.. My go to haunt is our local Re Store for Habitat for Humanity. Always something interesting.

Well for those of you not familiar with Goodwill they color code their items with about 5-6 colors so as an item comes in they are color coded so that in 5 to 6 weeks they are 50% off to keep thing rotating out.

Well Green was the 1/2 off color last Friday and I had been looking at 3 desk lamps with a cone shaped reflector and adjustable gooseneck all week. I simlpy could not understand why
They were brand new and nice little lamps but who needs 3 desk lamps in a tiny trailer then it hit me......

By removing the base and the cute little holder trays I coule have a flexible necked wall sconce. . So I bought all 3 lamps marked $6.99 each but at 1/2 off I got all three for $10.48 cents plus tax. I took them home and destroyed them  Well not quite but they are now stripped down to a reflector with a nice chrome flexible spine and a 5" solid stem. By attaching the solid stem to the wall studs and allowing the neck to protrude thru the wall I will have aimable wall sconces. I hope they look as good as I think they will.

I know pictures pictures I will try !
