What should I do with these? Coleman lantern & Igloo

Postby 3GKnight » Sun Jul 10, 2016 6:04 pm

The house we bought last year was owned by a long retired gentleman and his late wife. He'd left some stuff in the house. We found 3 vintage Coleman lanterns and an Igloo cooler.

I've learned my lesson after dumping parts of the '47 Kenskill that I shouldn't have so I'm here to hear suggestions on what I should do with these. I'm not generally a 'collector' kind of person but keeping these around for my kids might be worth it.

Does anyone have an idea on how much these might be worth? If anything? There is some paint loss but no dents.

Thanks!!

Use them. The lanterns all look to be in serviceable condition. Check the date codes on the bottom of them to get a better idea of the value. That nickel plated fount will likely be the oldest and highest value. The cooler is in really nice shape too.

I second that. Use them. The lanterns are a great find, and although probably not of high value, they are a great light source for camping and/or power outages.

There is a certain ambiance to hearing one hum while enjoying the warm glow.

Careful though, there is something about the white gas that can be quite addictive!

Unless you are tight for the $$ I would say keep and use :D

IMHO cleaned up and working they should bring 25-50 each, im sure some of our Coleman enthusiasts would be more than willing to buy em off of you.

I just hung all mine in the garage and realize that 12 of em is enough...lol

Thanks all!

I found a website with a whole bunch of info. https://www.oldcolemanparts.com

Unless I decide to pull the old spout & thoroughly clean it, I think the Igloo is going to turn into a beer & ice holder for parties.

If you decide to sell any of the lanterns, let me know, I'm interested. :D

Otherwise, I agree with the others... use'm They aren't meant to be museum pieces.
