Design & Construction of anything that's not a teardrop e.g. Grasshoppers or Sunspots

1965 Little Gem

I thought I would show everyone our newest project.

Bob and I still have our Teardrop trailer that we take out for quick weekend campouts/trips.

We also have the 63 Shasta Compact.

The 65 Little Gem is my newest trailer and the one we will use the most. My Bugg is the only one I have seen so far with this particular floorplan which has a builtin toilet, stove/oven, etc. The "typical" floorplan is seen in the brochure below. This one we are tearing down to the ground and rebuilding. It will have an all birch interior when finished. This time around it will be insulated too:

Bev, what a great shape - particularly that little flick-up where the front meets the roof!

First off, paint it orange/red with black poka-dots and call it Lady.

I think the toilet is a very interesting design and could easily be modified to work in a teardrop. If you isolated a section in the galley that used the same design where inside the TD you could pull the toilet out, there would be enough height to sit and do your business. Then push it back into place.
The key would be to isolate it well from the rest of the galley (maybe even a trap door that allows it to be removed from outside), and as well some rubber/foam seals to keep odours out of the TD. I think I see a future floorplan coming from the minds of TTTT!

Hello!
Our renovation is really coming along and I tried to get some good shots of the framework in case it might help for any future builds...

Also, in case someone needed info for the Murphy bed, I tried to put some info together on that :

We finally have the exterior just about done and will be moving on to putting the interior back together with some nice birch interior walls and lots of nice insulation.

Bob and I finally are nearing completion of the "Lil" Gem. Thought someone here might find the floorplan or something useful.

It's beautiful. You are going to feel like you are playing house.

Where does the table go when the bed is deployed? Is it used as support when using the bed?

I have a Murphy bed in my sewing/guest room. Sooo easy to use.

I recommend the "Wag Bag" for the toilet.

Bev, you two have done such a beautiful job that I just don't know where to start but I'll hit on a couple highlights that intrigued me.

Speaking of 'high-lights" (pun), adding an extra light in the corner of the cupboard, over the galley was a clever idea. Am I correct in saying that you have an overhead gas light in your cabin? I've not seen that before! The potty that pulls out from under the bench seat is clever, too. The interior colors are perfect to blend in with the stove and wall paneling and the cupboards look great.

Very well done! Of the three, this one will probably be your favorite.

Thanks everyone,
Yes, it is just the size I was looking for.... like a standup teardrop. I also like the fact it has the gas lamp and built in gas stove since we often rustic camp.
