I finished the box on the Tepee today ,put on the finish coat of paint,
Went and bought tubing and axle for the frame
Now the easy part , should have the frame done tomorrow..

I had a pile of tubing and angle at 12 noon

Before long it was cut up and tacked up like this





Welded the top out and flipped her over



Welded the bottom then installed the axle





She is ready for paint tomorrow.
Not to bad for a old fat man 7 hours including a couple coffee breaks

Great job! Man, I wish I could weld!

hey its looking great keep the updates coming..

Got the trailer frame bottom painted then flipped it and did the top



Got the bottom of the box covered in undercoating and set the block so I could roll the trailer under it and set her down.



Pick up the tires and wheels tomorrow and the back to work on her.

Ah, now we're on a roll.... Chassis will be under her soon for sure!!!

That's one h3llofa Frame you got there!

I built it a little stout ,this trailer will be pulled in some rough country. I still will be under 300.00 for the frame.

These are the days that are little milestones. Drove 30 miles to HB to get wheel,tires and a hitch.
I came home installed the tires did a little jacking around and here is what happened







I was very happy with the fit on the frame and overall height.
Got my mattress inside ,now I have a bed in my doghouse.



I measured the jeep and the frame and it is going to be a good fit on the height of the hitch

It is starting to look like a trailer.

PS I found out I have some competion ,I left the door open came back in a few minutes ,my black lab was laying up on the bed ,I think he thinks I am building him a dog house.

OH yeah Lookin' sweet and that oh so familar shape May have to drive down for a peek

That has to be a good feeling to get the frame/wheels under the shell.

I would love to read more about how you are attaching the box to the frame, please.

If you look at the frame the center 4(ft ( section is 2 by 3 tubing the outrigers are made from 2 by 2 angle . that gave me an area where I could drill holes any where on that section to mount the box down

So are you planning to drill through the box and bolt to the flanges in several places? It seems like the front 2 ft and rear 2 ft would not be bolted down, correct? Are you planning any bond in the front and rear to minimize vibration? (I don't know that there would be any vibration, but if there were, it would seem to be there).

I'm just curious, not speaking from any supposed knowledge or experience.
