Design & Construction of anything that's not a teardrop e.g. Grasshoppers or Sunspots

Well, as it turns out, I didn't leave enough room for weatherstripping around the doors.
Image

I tried something from HD, and it should have worked, but couldn't fasten it.
Image
It looked promising, too!

Image

But, it kept shifting. So, I pulled the door jambs off

I'm gluing 1/4" poplar strips that will be behind the door jamb
Image

When the glue dries sufficiently, I will put the door jambs back on and have 1/4" to put weatherstripping in. Hope it works!

It should work. I almost did the exact same thing but caught it before I glued my door frames on. Glad I did because I epoxied my frames on and to remove them would have been difficult without tearing up the interior. Anyway, I glued a 1/4" strip in like you and used a 3/8" weatherstrip to finish. Worked great.

Thanks, Mark! Your photos didn't come through, but I got the picture. Your post solved another dillema. I wanted to use 3/8" weatherstripping. Now I know it will work! I really appreciate it!

[Edit] Huh. The photos are there now! go figure. :?

Well, today I used my home built router table to make my very first cabinet door! A weak attempt at best! Still, there is some satisfaction in having narrowed the fear factor to a manageable level!

This door is made from cull lumber from HD. $0.51 each, 1x6 lumber 48" long. $19 worth of Aracua 1/4" ply.

Hummm... Panel needs to be 1/4" narrower and shorter!

Home built router table, with Chinese 1/2 plunge router installed.

Original plan was to make these of poplar. However, due to continued unemplyment, cull pine seems a reasonable alternative for now.

Router set for the stiles and rails came from Harbor Freight. Not recommended.

Sorry it took so long to reply, I was on vacation 8)

The "white fuzzy stuff" is a carpet-like hulliner that I put on the walls. I did not want to be surrounded by wood and wanted something to dampen the noise. It went on with spray adhesive and looks great. You can get it here.

Nice! How easily does it clean? I imagine if it is used in boats, it must be pretty durable.

It seems to be real durable. I haven't gotten it dirty yet so I don't know how well it cleans up. You can vacuum it just like regular carpet.

It's been a while since I posted, primarily because life has been interfering with my teardrop work as well as my camping. This last weekend I was all set to go the the Arizona Tearjerkers' Spring Clean. Wife and dog got sick. Couldn't go.

So, in an effort to redeem the time, I built my side table. :D

Had to make a clamp extender,

I have a modern 3 car garage, which means I could park my wife's Mazda3 in there 3 times! :?

As it is, she insists on parking in the garage, and so I use her space when she's at work, as my space is full of trailer!

The worst part is, she make me clean her side so she can park again every night!

My beloved decided my trailer was a bit on the boring side. So, she painted some (stripes? Wedges?) along both sides, then pinstriped the edges. I think it looks pretty good! She certainly matched the truck red pretty well!

Can you tell me more about the spray adhesive you used? Brand? Did you have to coat both the wall and the liner, or just the wall?

Mike..
