That's GREAT, what do you usually get ~ 18-19 mpg?

I look forward to your "fill in the gaps" post.

Congrats on your first camping trip.

I am brand new here, but TxRiverRat is a good friend of mine. We attended a boat builders round-up this weekend and it was pretty miserable with rain and cool temps. I was envious of his trailer compared to my tent. i was cold and wet and TxRat was wam and dry  . Got me to thinking I might need one of these. Good work Ron.

I was hooked up and left Sat morning early ,first time to pull the trailer and have two yaks on top,the little four banger handled it with ease, and I averaged 17 miles to the gallon so I was happy with that. I was nearly 8 ft tall ,I wasn't sure how it would handle it.
Trailer pulled straight and true no bobbles.
You know the story of the storm at the bash, well I just dropped the trailer in the sight and went looking for the wood boats. I finally found them enjoyed seeing the boats and folks. by the I was wet cold and misrable, I like hot weather and hate being cold.
I went back to the camper plugged in the lights put a pot of coffe on ,in about two minutes I was opening a vent and window nice and cozy. I drank the coffe laid down and crashed for a couple hours ,dang bed sleeps good.
It has a real mattress

I can sit up on the bed and still have plenty head room

This is not the stove I will use but it worked for this weekend.

My first trip with my rig was a success, no leaks ,open the door and go in,no tent cot sleeping bag to worry about, warm dry and comfortable, and It took all of five minutes to break camp

I am no where close to complete on this project but it is campable and I am very happy with the TEXAS TEPEE

My updates may be a little slow.
I will post some pics tommorow.
I went to the Texas hill country this weekend with the Tepee and one of my wooden yaks to do the Castile river race, before I left I installed a 5200 btu ac .It was HOT and after paddling nearly four hour in the heat and fast water it sure did my heart good to crawl up on that bed kick the ac on and look out the window at them folks on one side in a tent, they had to be burning up.

Different than that.
I got part of the roof off and started framing ,it will be a standy . I am adding 29 1/2 inches.

Got the sides and back framed ,all the old roof and joist gone

It sure is going to add a lot of room

Image

and it is still going to be lower than my Jeep with the yaks loaded on top.
