Texas Coyote @ Texas Tepee Trailer's Weekender 11

Design & Construction of anything that's not a teardrop e.g. Grasshoppers or Sunspots

Postby Tx River Rat » Mon Nov 03, 2008 10:32 pm

As you probably figured out bye now ,Texas Coyote is my son in law.
We both like to hunt and fish and this seems the perfect trailer for that
Starlene the two center ribs will be raised about 3/4 of an inch and from your build pics I figured to leave the front open until the paneling is done and the mattres installed.
thanks

Got the roof installed, with 34inch of pitch

It is starting to really stiffen up
I am liking the looks of this trailer more and more

I did leave a flat spot 18 inches across for the fantastic fan to fit on.

Don't forget the windows! :D

P.S. A door might be helpful too!!!

Mike
I guess I should explain why we are building like we are, and what we wanted in a trailer.
Texas Coyote my s i l has three rug rats that like to go with him so Starlenes weekender II had the room for them.
WE also make a some bow hunting trips here in Texas and Colo every year, also some fishing trips.
On these trips we are pretty much boon docking so we always have a fire and do most of the cooking on a grill. That is the reason for no galley Hunting trips seem to have a lot of bulky things like bow cases and we could see the possibilities of under the bed storage. The main thing we wanted was a way to stay warm ,dry, cool
and sleep comfortable with minimal set up time. The weekenderII meet all these criteria.
Mike the reason for no doors are windows , we want to set the bed up first and get our height then set windows from there and also the door position, also we are thinking about going to 14 inch wheels I have not cut the wheel openings till we make that decision. As soon as we can get the outside framed up I want to get a saturation coat inside and out then we will start making some decisions on the rest of the build.

We decided today to go with twin bed mattresses instead of a queen,
On a lot of our trips there will just be one person in the trailer so a single twin accross the back will be all that's needed; Plan to make a pull out board that can be used when the better half goes . that still gives an area of 5 ft by 76 inches to put down air mattress for the kids.
Height on the bed frame was 7 inches then a 4 inch mattress.I am 6 ft and can sit up on the bed without hitting my head.
The interior of the trailer will probably be designed as we go along.

We mainly want to stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer, also it helps not to wake up in the middle of the night to a lake or river in the bottom of your camper . This design works perfect for me . We will make changes as we go to fit my needs but over all I'm really excited and can't wait for this thing to fly... :Flippin Burger:

We got a little more done today . Coyote did a lot of sanding as we finished enclosing the trail.
Cut in the door .
Now a question , how much room is standard to leave around the door
I was thinking 1/4 inch all the way around, so the door would be a half inch short in length and width.
Thanks

I'm at that point and was wondering the same thing. There was a thread about that not too long ago but I can't seem to find it :(

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.

I have 1/4 inch on mine -recessed the hinges into the door so I could maintain a tighter clearance.
Here is my homemade door trim recessed to allow the door to set flush with the exterior walls. I used some EDPM rubber for a gasket that is mounted on the inside lip
Image
Here is an inside shot of the door all trimmed out (matchy matchy lines) and the trim Installed
