Slowly.
:(

I ran out of money this last month. I bought some more supllies this month, just haven't done much to it. I began sealing last month. I am using 50/50 polyurethane/mineral spirits and then a couple of coats of gloss white rustoleum. We'll see how this holds up.

I like the idea of a camper that is built to your exact specifics,
I'd like to have something like that for my truck (f150 xlt)
Just don't want my gas bill going through the roof hauling it around every where?
are you following some plans or are you making it up as you go?
What do you have planed for a floor layout?
Any special gizmos going into itthat might be of some interest?

Like the pop-top, how do you plan on doing the rear door?

Schaney, I'm kind of figuring it out as i go, so i'll post a pic when i get that part finished. Right now, the bottom is hinged on the left side, top??????

droid_ca, like above, I'm making it up as i go. I had a general idea of what i wanted, just couldn't figure out the rest until i had it sitting in front of me.

no special gizmos as of yet, i'm really not happy with what i have together for a lid. I'd like to rebuild it, but outside factors might have me living with what i got, and making a new one next year. It'll work, just not happy with the quality. I think i can do better.

Floor plans, who needs stinking floor plans!

No, seriously, at roughly 6'6" wide and 6'6" long, their ain't much room. Basically it has a bed going across the front of the camper right behind the cab, 28" wide. And that's it. storage underneath. Its pretty much a hard sided tent. That's what i designed it as, a pop up camper shell. The sides that hang over the bed rails can act as seats, or table tops. I can cook in it if i have to, etc.

thanks for looking! I'll try to get something else done this weekend so i don't completely stall out.

OK, so its been a couple weeks, and i've got alot done, even though it doesn't really look like it. Finished up painting the lower portion of the camper, still have some trim work to do, but its getting there! I'll be working on the roof tomorrow.

Want pics!!!!!!!

VERY Interesting!

I've considered something similar for my utility trailer. My hope would be to make it removable so I can use the trailer as a trailer and then slide-in the camper when desired. :) I'm watching this!

Droid_ca:

It will hinge form the front with a monster hinge I got at local RV parts place. Its heavy gauge aluminum, i'll try and get a pic before it goes on. The rear will be secured with pop up rv latches (x2).

I had originally planned on soft sides, but i've got an idea that i might proceed with on some hard sides that will fold up from inside. I'll have to wait till payday for that.

I wished i could get some things payed off so i could bring it by and show it to you in person next summer. I went thru BC back in 86 on a trip with boy scouts. Beautiful country you got there!

Thanks for the comments guys!

Here's a pic of the interior, its of the bed. I am putting down two of those cheapo bed pads from the mega discount mart, i think they cost me like $5.88 a piece. i had originally planned on just the bed, but it turns out i have enough for a seat going down the right side as well.

:( :( :(

Very slowly! I started off the month with a trip to the box store to buy up the last of the wood I would need, for the sides. Then got busy with work, then my allergies went south on me after a trip Austin. SO...... long story short, not much. I'll get some more pics of the details.

Getting very close to calling it almost done!

Whatever, that's supposed to mean. I'm almost done with the initial build. I'll probably modify it in the future. Anyway, pics tomorrow, I promise!

I can tell you from experience that you are going to have trouble trying to make that two piece door work with that compound angle. I ran into the same problem with the ladybug. You may want to do a small mock up duplicating the same set up and use tape as the hinges and you'll see what I mean! Darn near impossible if you have the two parts joined together in the middle and hinged on the sides
