Husband and I found this site too. We are in the planning state of a vardo build in the spring.

Thanks!

As an occasional lurker here I'm glad people like to look at my project. Every builder here is inspiring.

Hey George,

You did a great job on that vardo! No one knows it yet, but my next project (if I ever finish the current camper), will be a vardo!

AL

Now that I've worked out logistics and bugs, I am ready to make another one. Maybe I'll pass this one on to my daughter and build a dream vardo in a couple years.

Myron and Mary,

Too bad I didn't know you a year ago. I took the wagon up to Bismarck last fall and even camped at the KOA there. Let me know if I can answer any questions. I need to update the Vardo blog [http://paleotool.wordpress.com/plans-projects-and-patterns/the-vardo/] as there are some important additions and some small but good changes to the wagon. It is more of a process than a one-time project.

George:

I absolutely love this vardo!!! Your attention to detail is tremendous. I could definitely see me building a similar one.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks for the compliment. I hope you get to build your dream wagon as well.

"mocking" a vardo

Just a quick inquiry...
How come its referred to as a "Mock" vardo? I picture something made from a cardboard cutout when I see this name applied.

It could really fit into about any of the traditional living-wagon forms: e.g., sheep wagon, accommodation, showman's, vardo, or just plain old time caravan. It was inspired by and is my interpretation of all of them.
This little land yacht has taken me over 9800 miles so far through mountains, deserts, and plains from Mexico to the Canadian border. It is quite real.

Thanks to all those on this forum as it has been a great source for home builders. I refer people to it all the time.

Hey George! Ive posted on your blog, I really like your Vardo, Im building my 2nd lil vardo. I dream of doin a full size one, How much does yours weigh and did you take a big hit on mpg? Towing mine I went from 21 to 16mpg. I wonder if I didnt drive over 70mph if that would increase my miles to the gallon lol

Myron and Mary,

I have and do occasionally work in NoDak. I was up there last fall to present at a conference.
