How I converted a 24' TT to a Toyhauler

Postby dave_dj1 » Thu Jan 05, 2012 6:08 pm

I know it's not a Teardrop but thought that some might find it interesting and what is possible.
I started with a 24' rear bedroom camper that we just sort of stopped using, I have a Kawasaki Teryx and wanted to be able to haul it and camp (sold it before I ever had the chance).
Here is a before pic, the rear was mostly windows and it had an angle to it.

well after some head scratchin' I came up with a plan so I ripped the entire back off and cut it square.

I didn't realy take any pics as I was building the framework but it's simply 1 x 3 x 1/8" tubing lagged to the existing 2 x 2's of the camper.
Image
The ramp was built out of 1 x 3 tubing also and insulated with 1" high R sheathing.

this pic shows what I did with the queen size bed.

trimmed the opening inside with diamond plate.

I dressed up the front and sides with some diamond plate too.

I had to remove the bathroom to make enough room. I used indoor/outdoor carpet on the floor, the ramp and bed I painted with garage floor epoxy. I am going to have to do some searching to find some pics of it all finished. Enjoy,
dave

That's a 1950s/60s BMW Isetta - yep, that BMW, and nowadays they are even willing to admit that they made these - for many years yuo would find no mention of these vehicles in BMW's history!

It's not my trailer, just a photo I came across and saved.
