Last updated12/31/2023:

To help those who might be thinking of building a lifting roof, here is a list of all the TTT’s with lifting roofs which I (and others...Thanks!) could find.
(These camping trailers are not listed in any particular order.)

Please note: We believe Andrew Gibbons passed away a couple years ago; and with him, the rights to his design library, listed below, also were lost. However, if there is a design that you really liked, you might post a request to see if one of our members has information that could help.

For Andrew’s build plans for the Compact3 TTT look here:
http://tnttt.com/Design_Library/Design_Library.html

Of course, one might also add in the KampMaster, one of my favorite teardrop styles. Andrew has plans for that in the rescued design library as well:

http://tnttt.com/Design_Library/Design_Library.html

A build similar to the KampMaster is found in the Foamies section:

MATTLV's Friendly Neighborhood Slideavan:
viewtopic.php?f=50&t=72556&start=60

CaraWhale is a sort of trailer/boat combination with a kind of lifting roof/hatch door area. The entire build is so unique, it beckons to be recognized:
http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=27 ... 5&start=90

I could not find the build threads for the following:

John Sheppard’s Weekend Warrior:
http://www.tnttt.com/gallery/image_page ... e_id=11160

This one sneaked by me until it showed up in the for sale section. Hap doesn't have a build thread but there are 6 pictures in his gallery:
http://www.tnttt.com/gallery/search.php?user_id=1034

Here is another one that doesn't have a build thread or even much of a photo gallery on the forum; but, it is very interesting....A pop top trailer with a Dacron covering instead of foam or plywood, by tmoenter. Look down near the bottom of the first page, with a little more on it, on the second page:
http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=52750

Pictures of yet another without a build thread, by ChefConroy:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qgR9uA ... a2Nmw/view
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HPmH18 ... 1uq5Q/view

And yet another (called Duck) without a build thread by Simple_Abound:
viewtopic.php?f=50&t=74471

Don't miss this one, below, which was found by our member, ShadowCatcher, and has some wonderful, innovative ideas:

…………………………………………………………………………………………………

Also, this build kit, Teal's Take-apart Trailer, should probably be listed because you do have to put it together on a trailer chassis:
http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=61011

…………………………………………………………………………………………………

Shown on a truck bed; but, could also be used on a trailer: https://www.facebook.com/BusinessInside ... 4OTIwNTU2/

Here's another one on a truck bed and it's a foamie!

RJ Howell's Overland Build:
http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=72408

Amvardo Fold Down Caravans:
Not on here but worth a look!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QP9ehyY-FrY
...........................................................................

If anyone has helpful knowledge to add, such as links that I couldn’t find or other TTT’s with lifting roofs, please post your information here.

Check out the WizardofOdds posting of unusual trailers that he found while searching the Internet. Many of those have lifting roofs.

http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=64495&start=15

01/18/13: ...Decided to change the topic name of this thread, too, because it also lists Teardrop-shaped trailers with pop-up roofs.
So, instead of calling it "TTT's with Lifting Roofs", it is now Teardrops & Tiny Travel Trailers with Lifting Roofs.

Sharon,

I believe that my TTT also qualifies as having a lifting roof. It just doesn't require quite as much muscle power to accomplish the task.

:o Oh, my goodness! Yes, Mike it DEFINITELY belongs in the group! I had it in there when I was typing but somehow it got deleted before I posted. I've added it back in. My apologies.... There was no ill intent, simply a slip of the fingers (or the aging mind) somehow.

You're welcome, Cliff. It was time. Some of them were getting lost amongst all the teardrops.

I'm adding Andrew's KampMaster and also the Wild Goose to the original list, too.

I have 94 progress photos taken by George Teague of his CompactGT and I'm happy to pass them to anyone interested, though it's an 11Mb file. If you want them, please tell me it's the CompactGT you want (folks will ask me for "the photos" two years later and I don't know which photos!) and remember to provide your email address as you can't send an attachment to a private message.

I've even got some overall CAD drawings of the CompactGT but the file is from six years ago so I don't remember if they are George's drawings or my drawings of what he did.

Actually it was his website I first came across and it lead me to this website. His was the inspiration for my pop top trailer. At first I wanted to by a old pop up trailer and fix it or completely redo it. I looked at several from Craigslist in my area and they were all complete junk for way too much money. I thought to myself: "It would be like starting completely over." So then I started looking at starting from scratch. Then in a search I came up with George Teagues website and then Tiny Houses. Both lead me here. That was wqhen my life was complety ruined by building a tiny trailer. :D Well all my free time and spare money completly consummed anyway.

It kind of looks like it breaks down into three basic catagories:

The hinged flat top

The square bump up

And the pivot with sides

Me too, I was sorry to see he'd let his construction photo site go away.

Added Sumner's "Pop-up Teardrop" Today....Didn't even know about it until Aggie79 posted it in another thread. (Thanks, Tom).

The "complete" (?) list is at the top of this thread.

Hi Sharon,

I came across the Mega Drop build thread. I like his approach and
especially his use of the recycled garage door lift spring to operate the lift roof.

http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=44777

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

P.S. Why not add it to your initial post starting this thread -
in the spirit of keeping all the info/links in one place...
