Permanent toliet in Tiny Trailer

Postby ardan » Fri Jul 27, 2012 9:00 pm

Well after our first camping trip my wife let me know that a portable toilet would not do, this was a comfort that she demanded.

So my task was to make this work in my new homemade trailer, keep the cost low, control smell, make it dump-able, and easy to clean. Sound like a big job....

Here is my solution........

Image
First the parts I need

Image
Next the location for the toilet

Image
Through the Floor, so that I can dump when we leave the campground

Image
Now for my bucket (storage tank) plumbing

Image
Found the perfect item to make a light weight toilet bowl!!

Image
Bucket in place with the toilet bowl on top, The clear hose and little black pump will provide the flushing....This make actually work.

Image
The under camper connections, this cutoff will provide the ability to dump.

Image
Black rubber pipe insluation will provide the gasket effect to control smell leakage

Image
Fully assembled from underneath

Image
Fully assembled from top, the white button (door bell) is the flusher....

Image
The finished product from inside the camper, the padded seat folds down to cover the toilet when not in use.

Total cost was about $60 bucks including the cooler, the pump and the toilet seat.....

Thanks for looking

Maybe it just my 'puter, but those pix show little to nothing. It looks like, at least half of the photo is missing in each instance

Hmmmm.....That's odd.
All of the pix, on my screen, are quite large and, at least, 1/3 of the right sides are missing. There is no scroll bar at the bottom of the pix, as there sometimes is. Looks like an interesting solution, but I can't figure out what has been done to turn a cooler and some fittings into a toilet.

+1 to Carl, I see only the left half or 2-thirds of the photos also.

I guess the Right side is cropped off. I thought they were just not centered when they were taken.

For those having difficulty seeing the entire photo... I believe the "problem" is the size of the photo and the "zoom level" on your web browser. I had the same issue(s) until I used CTRL - (the "CTRL" key and the "minus" key used in conjunction) to zoom-out. To see everything in the photo I really had to zoom-out! This reduced the print on the page to nothing more than "ant trails"... Hopefully the "zoom out" will solve your problem(s).

Sorry Guys for the picture issues,

The pictures are hosted at http://noplancamper.blogspot.com/ and it scales them down for the user, I guess that this forum doesn't.....

If you have problems seeing the pics just jump over to http://noplancamper.blogspot.com/ and you will be able to see them...

Sorry again,

Interesting solution. The only potential problem I see is the way your dump valve is sticking straight down. If you pull through any steep angles, you could catch that on something and shear it off. Not a huge deal as long as your bucket is empty. Just hope it doesn't drag on the way to the dump station.

Hi,

I was also worried about hitting it on a dump pit but I have tried it on some really steep hills/slopes/ditches and the clearance that it has is pretty good. Just in case I will have my wife watch when it looks to be a problem....

Thanks,

Ardan
