Anyone ever try a storage shed?

Hi everyone, new guy here. I've been looking at TD for awhile now and some TTT and the thought occurred to me has anyone just tried to put a storage shed on a trailer? I found some really nice ones recently that I thought would look good so I was curious if anyone has tried it. I know that I would always rather stand up fully and they seem like they could would. Think an even smaller tumbleweed style house on wheels. Here are some links to examples:

http://www.cedarshed.com/01-sheds-potting-house-kit.html
This one weight in at 970lbs and you can get the same one as a 6x6 without the patio for 700lbs

http://www.cedarshed.com/01-sheds-bayside-shed.html
This one is 550lbs

This weighs in at 949lbs

This one is 650lbs

http://www.homedepot.ca/product/sherwood-6-x-8-garden-shed/934835
This comes in at 620lbs and the company also sells window kits for it. I like that the side walls are 6' and the peak inside is 8'. Lots of head room!

your average shed purchased at a big box is cheap, made with OSB instead of ply, staples instead of screws, have an extra heavy duty floor for tractors etc, and would not only be extra heavy, but may not stand up to the forces put on it towing.
you can build one with the look if you want to, but make it with lighter weight lumber and fully glued, with real plywood, use the trailer as the floor support, and you will make a nice light trailer even if it is harder to tow.
does sound like a CT conversion might be more what you're looking for though.

I bought a shed kit for our backyard. I'm pretty sure it was made up of all the rejects that no one would buy at the home store. Worst warped, knotted, crappy lumber ever. Never again....

I think you would have to be real careful with this concept, as what you're sticking onto your chassis hasvirtually no aerodynamic quality at all, and I think will get rattled & blown to pieces.

I was once on a long car journey and had to swerve round a bit of lumber on the highway, then 1/2 mile further I had to swerve round a section of roofing felt, then a bit further on, I had to swerve round the remains of a door.... and so on.

Eventually I saw a very crestfallen man standing at the side of the road looking in disbeleif at a trailer with the remains of his brand new garden shed on it! He had collected it from a LOWES type place ready assembled, and really didnt get very far with it.

So sorry to pour cold water on your idea - and I do love to see folks thinking outside the box - but I dont personally think its a plan. Sorry

I did talk to one of the manufactures out of curiosity as it turns out that two of them are local and just supply to the big box stores. They told me that a number of people have reinforced their sheds and successfully made very nice travel trailers. However, I don't think I will go this route now as I just found out that we have a new Durango on order so I don't need to be restricted by the towing capacity of my current car but thanks everyone for all of your input. It was greatly appreciated!

If a tiny house is your dream, Don't give up on your dream.

Hey Roebuck

You are new here so you might know this.

Click on that link in droid_ca signature block in his post. His build log ) Hint it is under the big flag. Take
a look at what he started building and the first few pic was his inspiration for his build.

hahaha My build has evolved so much now , the initial trailer that I was going to use is no longer available so I'm working on my bigger build for the time being, but one day I'd like to build the smaller shack as I think it would make for a great weekend getaway trailer, also when the tiny house seems like it is getting too small just spend a night or two in the other; that way the tiny house would seem a whole bunch bigger. Feel free to look aat my pictures as well I have a few tiny house pictures that might give you some ideas
