Mini Camp Cruiser - boat/camper

Postby EZ » Wed Apr 10, 2013 4:08 pm

Don't know if anyone has brought this design up in the past. I stumbled across it while searching for a sailboat design to build.

On some levels it looks like a very cool design. It might be somewhat impractical but is certainly a new way of addressing that age old problem of bringing a boat and a camper along. Pretty ingenious. Wonder what it would be like to have a boat bottom during the day as your ceiling at night.

Built Stitch & Glue style with lauan and epoxy/fiberglass, could be light and strong. I probably won't be the first though................

I'm thinking you'd have to increase the height of the ledge between the two halves of the boat to keep water from coming in through the gap, which would of course mean that the doorway would be really small in camper mode.
