Glen-L truck camper

Postby gti20vturbo » Thu Jun 13, 2013 6:52 pm

Hello everyone, I have been lurking for a while and started building a truck camper late last year. Just wanted to share some pics with everyone. I really want to build a teardrop but I need to finish this camper first. :R

Hi gti20vturbo,

Welcome to the forum ! Post away on your pics, everyone
loves pics, and build methods translate between different kinds
of 'Tiny' camping vehicles. Inspiration can come from many
sources, 'ya know'.

Good luck completing this build, and planning and building the
next one, your TD.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

I like what you're doing with the truck camper. We have been thinking about buying some Glen-L boat plans. How did you like the plans you got from them??

The plans are a good reference for making sure you are building something with structural integrity but they are very old. LOL For the most part the structural portion of my build is to the plans but I have made some modifications to make it work in a short bed truck as well as making it work for "us". Things like filon and rounded tinted windows didn't exist when these plans were drawn up but can easily be added.

And some more

Jump ahead here a few months.....

I basically gave up on finding a cheap, light weight interior panel and just primed the wood then textured it and added interior paint.

Same with the ceiling panels. Primed, textured, painted and installed

'Just throwing this out there...

If you ever decide not to use it as a PU Camper,
you could always mount it on a trailer and infill
around it with exterior access storage compartments
to round it out as a more 'traditional shaped' total
trailer body. I've seen a few pics of that kind of
setup ranging from basic to seamless in the integration
of the two.

It might be a viable approach for those who want a
removable camper body so they can use the trailer
otherwise in the non-camping time.

Thanks for the comments. This weekend I started prepping the outside for the skin as well as boxing in the top for the roof skin.
