Interesting build. Thanks for the pictures.
What have you figured your final weight will be?
Good idea building it on that trailer. Will you
have any difficulty moving it into the truck?
Do you plan to skid it on the plywood bottom or
will you use runners

No idea on weight. I'm planning on installing jacks on the corners.

Very nice!

I bought a set of one of their bumper pull travel trailer plans. Some day I might get around to building it.

Finally, someone building from a Glen-L plan! Looks great so maybe it will inspire my husband since we have had the plans for the Sequoia, the tiny TT, for years. We have 2011 pop-up and I could give someone a million reasons why they want to build their own!

On winter break now. .....

The project is thankfully inside but the garage is not heated. I bought a Mr Heater Buddy for my shop and it works great, so I'll probably use it to try and do some interior work this winter.

Looking very nice. Have a couple of question if you don't mind.
1. on the over cab bunk, what are the dimensions of the mattress area and what is the height from the deck to the inside of the ceiling?
2. How long are you making the main body of the camper.
I have a short bed Chevy extended cab 1500 and am thinking about building a camper using 2' think foam like the foamies do and just need a few base lines from "real" campers.
Thanks in advance.

I will get you exact measurements the next time I visit that garage. The mattress area is an inch or two wider and longer than a queen size mattress. And the main body is 8' so it doesn't take 2 sections of whatever we use for the exterior sheeting to do the bottom part and also so we weren't piecing stuff together to do the floors and walls, etc.

Sniper
Thanks for the info, between this thread and a couple more building threads I am sure I will be building a foam slide in truck camper sometime this year. Would like a "toy hauler" type TT but the way my motorcycle trailer is set up it would not work. Oh well, might be a good reason to have another trailer.

No sorry, I haven't touched it this year due to a race car project. Don't worry, you're not missing anything!

Just wanted to say that I'm still here. The project was shoved to the back of the garage early in the year and never made it out to where I could get at it. Also, I'm at the point where I need to decide on cabinets, kitchen, and bathroom layouts, and that has me jammed into builder's block. Whenever that happens, I usually ignore something. So I've decided to get it moved to the front of the garage and just start building again. It's worked so far, and I've gone two years without having the convenience of the truck camper which is why I started the project in the first place. :?

I've been researching like crazy recently and think I can get going on the cabinets. If that happens I should be able to finish them and then the kitchen so only the bathroom will be driving me nuts.

Made some good progress over the last couple months. I need to get a bunch of pictures uploaded and then I'll post them. 8)

Most of this progress has been fairly recent - late summer. Decided to go with a normal window ac unit so replacement was cheap, easy, and fast. The door was an Ebay "surplus" piece for a very reasonable price, and the windows are new direct from the vendor.

I now have the (upper) sides done in FRP. I used it because it was cheaper than most other alternatives and I wanted smooth sides. Eventually I will glue it to the framing and then remove the screws and fill the holes and seams, then paint and stripe. The corners need, well corners. What are some good products for this? I can't find corners in anything but steel and I know I used to see plastic corners in the weatherstripping section somewhere. I can't even find plastic corners in white (1" or 1.5" x 8') online. Once we cover the bottoms, we can do the front, under the cabover, and the front part of the roof. I have rubber roofing left over from a trailer project for the top but I'll need to locate the special aluminum strips that cover the edges which has a rubber or plastic insert to cover the screws. Anyone know the name of this piece? Thanks and I hope you enjoy the update. I'm happy to be able to provide one, finally!

Excellent Build!

I went to Rich's List under the header listing for design resources and found 2 different sources.

Im sure there are more if you look..

Good Luck with finishing!
