bearing seals

Postby Homer » Tue Sep 06, 2011 9:36 pm

I have 1947 Kit I'm reworking. I have replaced the axel bearings and races but I'm unable to locate bearing seals. I understand the original seals were felt, nonetheless I cannot locate seals of any type that fit. Anyone with information I would appreciate.

My husband owns a machine shop (Randy) and has in stock a huge number of obsolete and other seals and bearings. If he doesn't have it, it probably no longer exists. You might try calling him. Randy Pontius, Desert Metal, 775 273 3090.

Wow if that's not a helpful and timely response, I don't know what is!

You may also be able to use a SS sleeve over the axle. This is done some times when switching to an oil hub. It gives a smoother more positive rub area for the seal.
