Thanks Billy. I'll keep an eye on my gas mileage and see if it is affected at all. I have a trip coming up in a week and a half that is 3 hours away. I should be able to report back any difference after that.

Wish I could take credit for it Deryk. Thanks though!

This was just one of the threads that gave me the idea...

Got a PM from a newer member on here, wondering what my tongue weight was, with the extension.

I just took a digital bathroom scale outside and weighed it.

106lbs, at the coupler.

Just out of curiosity, I moved the scale back, underneath the original coupler mounting bracket, and weighed it there.

142lbs.

36lb difference!

The journey ends a week from today. For me and this convertible anyway.

Its new owner is coming all the way from Alabama to pick it up, and I'm sure she'll enjoy it just as much as I have!

Thanks to everyone who followed this thread and provided valuable opinions and information! I certainly couldn't have done it without you guys (and gals)!

If you haven't already, check out the build thread for for my next convertible: a 5 feet wide, 10 feet long, 'trolley-top' version of this one, called The X-II.

Zach, one suggestion for the X-II...

Build slower...it's hard to keep up with guys like you

Thanks guys!

Woodstramp - I don't know if the new owner will be active with the Tearjerkers or not. Guess there's a chance you could see the trailer in person sometime!

Billy - This next build has a longer time-frame (6 months) than the first one (2 1/2 months) but once I get started on a project I can't sleep until its finished! BUT at least I know that I don't NEED to rush.

Paul - It is pretty funny how young we look in that picture. It was taken at my friends wedding this summer. I'm an old man @ 28, and she's still pretty youthful @ 22! LOL! Have you started your next build yet?

If HF has the trailer in stock, I'll be picking it up this week!

I decided to wait until the spring to start, I'm not in so much of a rush that I need to be working in the cold weather. Also, there may be a complete change of plans. I may actually purchase a classic... stay tuned!
