Thursday saw the fitting of the trunk lid (galley hatch in TD talk) and prep for body work on trunk lid.

Then it was off to buy more steel and aluminium for the tongue and the under floor storage area lids.

Friday we spent the entire morning getting the 1961 Studebaker rear end prepped and modified to go under Kermit as a temporary axle so we can role it around while I wait to order my Dexter Torsion axle.
But Friday is "BEER DAY" so little else got accomplished. 128125128120128122
More pictures to come!

Hi Brian,
That shell is looking good after its blast. You will be able to really get on with the construction now that it is done.
Did you see this photo that I posted recently. They would make a fantastic combination.

Took my laptop out to the shop and showed Kermit .....all of a sudden I heard music and the words " there she is....that's my mama....bouncing up and down" :R
Thanks for the picture.

No problem going to Hamilton, it is just having to go through Auckland to get there that is the issue. :?
Sorry for the interruption Brian. :NC

Looks really solid. I'm surprised that there wasn't more rust issues. Good for you!

Yes it was very solid, as it came from the dry climate of central Washington.
It broke my heart to cut the floors out of it, that still had much of the original black paint on them (even under the pedals) which is a far cry from the rusted hulks that restorers from the east are faced with.
But, it is making this project an easy one for me.
It was also very straight!!
I have an equally nice Oldsmobile 78 Series in the barn that is the twin to this body.

It can't be THAT much work, especially for someone who's retired...ish

I hear that about many pans in the fire !
My build has slowed a bit since I got back to work but I'm still plugging along. It's been either warm and wet or cool and dry - typical wet coast winter...
Working on the hatch ribs at the moment and am going to spin the trailer around today and park it nose-in so I have easier access to work on the galley. It'll be the first time since I started that it's off the blocks and back on its own wheels, however briefly.

Before you know it, camping season will be upon us again and I'm determined not to miss another one. When did you say you guys were hitting the road to kick off 2015 ?
