Today I finally finished up the center piece on the tongue, I managed to find a piece of tubing squirreled away in the shed. I also cut the wood supports for the frame on the outriggers, and got the floor all cut and splined. Still need to glue it up and bolt it down. Probably won't get to work on it tomorrow, as I'm going over to a buddies place and hang aluminum siding on his '57 Cardinal. Doug

Nice wheels. I really like them. Hmm 57 cardinal. Do we know the owner? Sounds kool.

Got all my paint/flooring/counter top samples together. There is a fabric for the curtains in a great complimentary color/pattern but it won't be released for a while. The flooring is marmoleum which is bullet proof for a camper and it's got a great retro appearance. A buddy of mine doing a Cardinal had about 1/2 sheet of the boomerang formica left over so that should take care of my table and counter top.

Exact exterior colors are TBD right now. Thinking of a charcoal metallic on the bottom and just a straight yellow on the upper portion. The plan is to take some of the existing siding from the donor trailer with the breaks on it and strip it and do a high polish on the center portion. Those colors with a black accent should look great. At least I think they will. I will probably not reuse the door jamb. After building the steel one on the Nomad...I'm sold on going that way...besides, the existing door won't allow for a screen door, it's in the built in window. It seems that doors on the older trailers tended to get floppy and out of whack. A steel jamb and tight construction makes for 1 solid door and adds to the strength of the wall in my opinion. Yeah yeah...I know...colored pencils and hand drawn...what century am I from? Most of it's in my head anyway. Doug

Here's the profile I'm going with, It will allow more cabinet space overhead in the rear than what I've done in the past. A longer body will also allow for a larger dinette with a 39" table up front, 4' galley counter and a 4'6" bed. I didn't want to slope the front or the rear since I'm using large windows (like nearly 6' wide up front) and they would be tough to work into more of a curved profile. Interior will probably be a painted one similar to what I've done on the Nomad, but in a different color combination. It will be nice and bright, light yellow, with a speckle paint job of black/charcoal, and mustard. Doug

I got the floor all screwed and glued up, let it cure overnight, glassed the seams this morning and put on a coat of Rustoleum for a bottom coat. Plan is for tomorrow to drop the floor on the frame and bolt it down, and fill the bolt holes so the flooring will be level.

I also shot the wheels...I forgot why I hate shooting yellow....no good lead in it anymore so that makes it tough to coat out. I had to spray the wheels with a white primer first. Polished the caps and did the ribbed edges with a black. I sprayed them with a high temp black, and took some 0000 steel wool and cleaned off the over spray. They now have the original look. I just need to get some rubber for it. I lucked out and managed to scrounge a 1/2 sheet of the boomerang charcoal from my buddy with the Cardinal, so the counter top and table are covered. Don't know if I've got enough for the little cabinet to the left of the door though. Doug

This last weekend I got the wheel tubs built and interior of them glassed. Now all I need to do is to shoot them with some undercoating. Also got the main body of the galley built, sink cut in and water tank positioned, and the little cabinet with the drawers on the door side fabricated. Cooler will move on sliders, drawer above it and on the left side, 1 large door with a slide out tray that will rest on the top of the wheel tub and a shelf underneath it. Little cabinet on opposing side of trailer will have 2 drawers in it. Doug
