Got a PM from Arizona a couple of weeks ago..... from THE Cliffmeister.

"Would you like a motorbike number plate for your collection?"

Of course my answer was Yes Please!!

So I offered a trade which was never meant to be a trade.

Cliff loves coins, especially foreign coins, so I sent him coins from three different countries where I travel to regularly.

Anyway, got back from Southampton today to find in the post a small envelope with custom stamps on.

And of course, being known in the internet world as GRIZZ..... this has to be my favourite.

So there you go, a perfect little update on here with a great gift from a big hearted guy.

Thanks Cliff.

Picked these two lights up at the bootfair this morning at "Non Bootfair Prices" so paid much more than I shouuld have, but wanted them.

No idea where they were from originally, but thought they would look good on the Grizz-Pod.

Also picked this old galvanised fuel tank/jerry can up for way too much money, but its worth it to me as an ornament in my over full garage or as a reservoir for the lawnmowers fuel.

+1. Me, too.

Those lights are awesome and could be the impetus to a Rocket Man themed tear.

Thanks guys.

KCStudley, that is a great idea..... imagine Rocketear with those as marker lights.

In the mean time.....

Always wanted a parking meter in the garage or back yard....

Bid on a couple before and never won, knew they can make good money.

This week I was watching one and bid in the last 10 seconds.... and won !!

I have a pole aleady so it should soon become "That bloody parking meter!"

I am sure it will give me as much fun as the traffic lights.

With your traffic light and parking meter you gonna start your own municipality, catch violators, fine em, and live on the income? Gus

I received a nice parcel from England yesterday. Coins from Great Britain, some older coins from same, and some coins from South Africa!

As a bonus, a Guinness keychain and a post card from the Grizz himself!

Thanks, Grizz, you are a great friend!

Now, what is a shilling compared to a pound?

Been away touring to France and Belgium this week on the motorbike with a friend.
Doing some war graves and battle fields.

Saw a lot of these.....

While doing quite a bit of this

Image

Image

We used radio comms to chat all the way.

The radio I used was loaned to me by another buddy, who also had a rather legendary BMW1000GS known as the Marakesh Express.

Andy brought me a spare number plate from that bike....

Image

While over there in Normandy where so many men died during WW1 and WW2, I managed to find a show plate for the region.

Image

In France number plates or Tags are kinda hard to get as there is a legal association with them etc....

However, while filling up in a rural town, I showed the proprietor the pics of m garage and he fetched me an unused plate from out back.##

These plates contain a whole lot of information.....

Image

In Belgium the rules are similar, but I managed to get hold of 4 plate in a weird trade.

The guy also brought me a bicycle license from 1979..... apparently very rare.

Image

Lastly, when I got home there was a tag from a Ducatti 996 waiting for me too..... from the USA.

Its been a good week.

I seem to have lost my MOJO the last few years, but it seems to be creeping back.

Yesterday, for the first time since August 2010, the Grizz-Pod came out of the garage.

After selling the Anglia to Young Dan Young over the weekend, there suddenly was more space in the garage to move stuff about, first was the Transit, which is also up for sale, and I will be writing up a full for sale ad for it as soon as the time is right, unless someone comes in by PM and comes to take a look and decides to buy what is a pretty unique van/car.

Yesterday I decided to turn the Transit around in the garage so that it faces outward, and as is usually the case, a whole lot of other stuff started happening......

I decided a wash and some T-Cut is in order.

Once the bus was turned about, I started moving stuff about again, and then pulled the Grizz-Pod out and decided it needed a wash as well, as it never got washed after we came back from honeymoon in August 2010

So I will now just photos dump, as the bus and trailer does look different from different angles, and interestingly, if you look at some pics they look bigger than in others.

Washed and sparkly

Washed as well, Much better, drying next.

Just how low can you go ?

Says it all.

So next up is to sell the transit, and then get a Chevy pickup truck for the teardrop trailer.

Now to go start the T-Cut on the bus.
Greetings from England.

Old English money a very confusing topic.

pre decimalisation money:

There were 12 pennies in a shilling and 20 shillings in a pound

A florin was 2 shilling

Half a crown was 2 shillings 6 pence

A crown was 5 shillings

A soverign was 20 shillings

A guinea was 1 pound 5 pennies, this was used in racing a lot as in the 500 guinea race etc the reason for this was the 5 pennies was taken from the winner as tax initally so the actual purse that was taken was 500 pounds.

My grandfather was a fitter in the RAF and used to make aeroplane broches and such like from old pennies one day the wife of an american pilot asked him to make a broch of a lancaster bomner out of a Crown. At this time it was an awful lot of money. He said he now had some idea of how the jewler the cut the largest diamond felt. He said he spent 3 days just thinking about where to make the first cut.

Sorry for the thread hijack my brain has a tendency to wander and my fingers follow.
