I screwed & glued the floor, flipped the floor upside down and started working on the under floor storage when the rain started. Unfortunately I'm still at the stage where I need the table saw, so I'm done for the night.
The weather should be better tomorrow, with any luck I'll get the storage done and be able to start painting.

So I have the under floor storage box done.

Now I have to decide if I want to install the box on the floor when it is upside down, or finish the floor, flip it upright and attach the box from below.
The first would let me seal everything very well, but would be a big pain for flipping it upright due to the increased weight and the problems that would occur if I'm wrong on the tongue extension not interfering. The second course of action would mean less access to get a caulk gun in and seal everything properly.

I also caulked all of the floor joints. Well, I started it, my wife decided to come out to see what was going on and decided she could use the gun better than me so I just wiped everything and told her where to go next.

Next up: Picking a path forward for the storage box, then two coats of primer, two coats of paint and then one coat of fence paint.
Next weekend I'm out of town, but the week after that my dad's offered to come to help with the trailer for a few days so I'm going to take some leave and see how far we can get. With any luck, we'll get the walls and stick frame installed so I can run the wiring and such.

I decided to jump in with both feet by attaching the storage box. Working under the trailer, with the axle in the way and the drill throwing sawdust directly into my eyes (somehow avoiding my safety glasses) was not much fun.

I put two coats of Valspar exterior latex primer (most readily available 100% acrylic latex primer I could find, since the MDO requires 100% acrylic for weatherproofing) on the underside of the floor and the battery door.

Now we have to see if I can get two coats of paint and the asphalt on the floor by Friday or not.

I'm considering an airless spray gun, the primer and paint data sheets both say only airless spray is acceptable, but I'm not sure how good the homeowner grade units are, and my brother owns a conventional spray gun and a HVLP gun so I don't know how much use we'd have for an airless and I definitely don't want to spend the cash for a pro-grade unit. It feels like a quarter of my spending is for tools, I'm not sure how I'll count them when I do the final spending tally.

First coat of paint is on the floor.
No one likes to watch paint dry, so I'll spare everyone the picture. :R

Second coat of paint is on the underside.
My dad's coming to town to help out on Thursday & Friday, our goals are to cut the side profiles and drill the bolt holes for the floor, I'll asphalt-coat the floor solo and then next week (Wed-Sat) we'll attach the sides and start on the stick frame.

My dad came to town to help out, he spent yesterday truing my table saw and generally playing around with my tools to see what all I've managed to acquire or abuse, and today we started bright and early.
We thought we were racing against an afternoon rain storm, but it never materialized, so we made a ton of progress.
First we cut the profiles.

Then we cut the doors.

Then with some apprehension, we dropped the doors into place.

They went in perfectly, with no adjustment required. :D

Then we flipped the floor upright and drilled the holes to attach it to the frame.

Then we lined up the profile to check it out.

Before my dad left, we flipped the floor back upside down so I can put the asphalt paint on it. Then I'll flip it back upright and prime the top.
My dad's coming back on Wednesday and I'm taking the rest of the week off, so we'll have 3.5 days of work. We'll have to see how far we get before Easter requires we take a break.

After all the banging around taking off and putting on the floor a few times while we were setting the bolts, I've noticed a few dings in the paint, especially on the storage box. I wonder if Herculiner would be a better choice instead of the asphalt paint, since it would give a bit more impact protection.

Maybe.. I'm not an expert on this at all. But I think that asphalt paint is some pretty nasty and tough stuff as far as keeping water out. I would think it would do the job, not to mention the nice primer that you putting under it as well. That alone is a pretty good protector.

You are moving right along.. You've got the door(s).. Next thing you know you will have the roof and hatch.

Moving right along!
Looks great!

I went with the Herculiner.
The first coat is drying, I'm glad the weather was good enough to do it outside because even with my respirator, I bet I would've been on cloud 9 if I had to use it in the garage. I'm also going to put tape over the corners that were damaged previously so when we lower it into place, there won't be as much chance of scraping the Herculiner/paint off.

Second coat of Herculiner applied.
Now I just have to wait until Wednesday to flip the floor over and bolt it down.

I accidentally crushed the Herculiner can a bit when I was closing it, no punctures or anything, just enough to distort the rim a hair, so I ran a ring of duct tape around the top to hopefully seal it a few days until I get the galley floor cut to size and prepared. I can buy additional quarts of Herculiner, so that's what I'll have to resort to if the tape doesn't work.

So here's the Herculiner after it dried:

My dad arrived today, it's going to be pretty cold for the next three days but we should still be able to make a bunch of progress.
First thing was flipping the floor upright, bolting it down and planning how we're going to attach the walls.

And here's a shot of the inside of the storage box.
It is gigantic. Ranger Rick's never going to find my red solo cup refill station now.
