That's quite alright and thanks for your concern! One advantage I have on this project that a lot of others don't have the benefit of... is a brilliant woman who keeps me in check in much the same way! Even though I plan way ahead in my head and on paper as well, often I'm too immersed in the project to see clearly. And that's when she steps in. Ha. Anyway...

To your point... There is no hardware going through the walls or outer skin. The Filon is not penetrated in any way other than the cutouts for the necessary doors, windows, etc. The walls have 2x2" cleats mounted at the bottom that make a "ledge" for the wall to sit on the flooring. 4" bolts go through the cleats into the floor and through the frame. In my original trial run, there was a substantial space between skirt and the frame, (intentionally built in) so yes, there is adequate allowance for the layer of fiberglass and epoxy. So... whether there is Filon on the outer wall or not, it makes no difference regarding how the walls mount to the frame. All the mounting bolts go through the internal cleats and are hidden by the bed, kitchen cabinets, dinette seating, bathroom cabinets and the closet.

One of my friends was looking at the design and asked if the bolts through the cleats are the only things holding the walls onto the trailer. Technically, the answer is yes. But realistically the answer is not entirely... because the walls are bolted and bonded to the internal walls, the dinette seating, the cabinets, the bed, etc.

The strength is in the sum of the parts...

One more thing, check out the pictures of the wall standing next to the 7' garage door to get a feel for the size of the walls. They won't go through the doors without being laid down a bit.

Excellent. I suppose I should have looked back a ways in your thread before posting. So many threads to follow, so much going on.

Again, excellent work you are doing.

Much appreciated! Thank you for your interest in our build! As we go along please feel free to make comments or suggestions anytime. When I first started this build, I spent almost a year planning it out in my head and then on paper. One thing Carrie said was, "you can't think of everything!" And I would like to have proved her wrong. But the reality is, this is a new build. A prototype. It's not a kit. There are no instructions. So no matter how much thought, planning and preparation we've done, how many drawings we've drawn or CAD programs written... there will always be things that come up that we have to figure out as we go... and then we know for the next time. And maybe that "unknown" ... that "figuring it out as we go"... is the part that gives a sense of accomplishment every time a new challenge is overcome or a problem is solved. Maybe that is really part of what makes it all worthwhile... and fun!

Thanks again...
Michael

Last night I built a jig for the router and figured out the size for the porthole windows. Small victories. Something about getting the windows cut out makes it really feel like its coming together.

Gotta love those milestones!

So true about the planning. Detailed plans really help flesh things out in the beginning, giving a cohesive path (or multiple converging paths) to follow. I resemble that remark. However, once you reach a certain point it inevitably becomes a build as you go endeavor. That is exactly where I am at now!

Spent the day finishing up all the hatches... the storage compartment hatches, water fill, shower, 30A service plug... I'm basically down to some final sanding and I'm ready for Filon. I'm really excited about that because once the Filon is on I'll be standing up walls and getting it enclosed! Seems like it's taking forever!

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I need it! I'm to the point where everything is a struggle. I can't move the walls around by myself anymore. They're way too awkward to get them up on the saw horses alone. So I have to wait for help and that is kind of frustrating. But I'm coming along well and I'm happy with the results. Once I get the Filon on things will change and I know it will start coming together. I need to get an enclosed cabin, then I will feel better about things from there.

The Stainless shore power came from Vintage Trailer Supply and here's the link:

Any chance you can take a close up pic of that shore power inlets pin configuration for me and what voltage is it rated too.
I need 230 vote 15 amp or above and I'd need to get hold of a plug to wire onto a lead too
