Test fit.

Control side view. I'm getting cold already.

Epoxy setting on the hinge spacers. This project has been fun, because I had everything on had. I've also used up a lot of left over material. The hinge spacers required 5 inches of 2 X 1/2 oak. I had 5 inches left. Perfect.

Will that big gangly thing be there going down the road? Nope, I still have to finish the blank to plug the opening for travel.

I was incorrect about having "everything" on hand. I need to order some T molding and weather stripping. Grant, I'll be in touch soon.

Where does that water heater box come into this story?

Well, about a week ago, last Monday to be exact, to old WH burst and partially flooded the garage floor. Fortunately Door #2 was sitting upon a couple of blocks and did not get wet. Thing was a very good thing since I haven't applied the CPES yet.

Most of the scraps still left from the build were on the floor and got wet. More kindling for the Fall campfires.

Nice job Sparks on the door and A/C install!

And thanks for showing hinge spacers. Doors are up next on my to do list and I need to decide which method I'm going to use - t-molding on the exterior or interior jamb with seals.

BTW - I was glad to see that all of the Aggie gear was safely stored in your TD above the flood.

It was a terrible job, but somebody had to do it. 8)

Nice AC door conversion build! If McMaster hadn't jerked me around I would have a spare set for you Tom!

Not that I am recommending it, but I used T molding and can see daylight from the inside, but never had a single drip. I have no idea why, but I am planning on the inner jamb on top of the T molding just for looks and I might as well put a seal on it so maybe both would be in order?

Makes me smile this build, we do make things hard for ourselves in making things easy.
Greetings from England.

Rian.

Hoping to get it all done in time.

I've been considering adding an inner seal as well. I haven't really needed it however. Th PrincessHelper and I stayed dry in the rain and snow at Beavers Bend last year.

I dismantled the dead water heater. Lot's of good sheet metal in the outer jacket! Besides, "construction debris" is verbotten in the trash/recycle stream. Scrap metal for recycle is good.

The offending spot.

AND THEN:

In a flash of inspiration, or was that insanity, I had a vision of a new smoker.

A little update on Door Number 2

Nearly sorta finished. Well enough to travel anyway.

With "traveling window" installed.

The good inspector was kind enough to visit last weekend.

Sparks,

Nice job on the door and AC combo! How's that smoker coming along?

 So you have some of those spider web/ sawdust creations too? I've never seen these before I started my build.

Looks good though, just make the spiders rebuild or move on.

Tom,

The weather has been too hot, er um, glowbull warming has hit, to work much in the garage this summer.

I still have the idea brewing.

BTW, I hope you bring your tear to Joe Pool next week. I'm really curious to see your hatch trim. I might want to redo mine.

Del,

"The Inspector" = Kilroy. There are two places in the galley where "Kilroy Was Here" indicates he visited during construction. I felt he needed a visual presence as well.
