'Mental Floss' build update...

Postby forestfrog » Mon May 12, 2008 12:41 am

After taking an extended break, I finally got back to work on TD#1, aka Mental Floss! I hope to make the Matagorda Bay gathering in July her maiden voyage. A tropical themed gathering seems like the perfect first outing for my little beach shack, LOL!

Where I left things last Fall...no hatch, no doors, no tongue box:

The doors and 'porthole' windows:

The tongue box:

I'm using old corrugated roofing, spray painted hammered copper, for the tongue box roof skin:

The dreaded hatch build:

How I left things this afternoon:

Things are finally moving forward again!!
Now, I just need to finish 'Mental Floss' and do some camping before I start on TD#2, the 'Meanderin' 'Mander' (an ultralight 4'x6.5'). :? :D

Wow, I love all the little details. That will be a real whimsical work of art as well as a nice trailer. Good job!

Definitely one of the most creative designs out there! I can't wait to see it in July. You are really going to turn some heads with this one.   :applause:  :applause:
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

Wow, teardrops make people smile in general, but yours is THEE single most feel good, whimsical trailer I have seen! Even though you're from Louisiana - your tear screams California. In fact, if you go to IRG 2.0 you're gonna have the paparazzi all over you! Beware.

What a fun creative build!!! Perfect colors for that tropical look...A grass topped umbrella would be perfect along side, as well as a full margarita glass! Good job!!!  Doug

Kristi, I am so happy to see that you are back to working on your TD. It looks awesome!!! I love the Porthole windows. And the Hatch looks GREAT. :clapping hands:

I can not wait to see it in person at LCGIII.

Kristi, very nice work. Do you have a better shot of your sun? I can't make out what you did with left hand side.
