The Weekender II is now "for Sale". See details in the For sale section of the forum

Question on your build journal on the Weekender II

Postby Deryk the Pirate » Wed Sep 15, 2010 10:59 pm

I know this is an older post but I was wondering, you said the weight on it was 1025lbs, but isnt the max towing on your jeep at a 1000lbs? The reason Im asking is that my car also has the same tow weight and dont want to overload it. I really do like the style and space this offers.

thanks
deryk

My Jeep with the D44 in back has a max tow of 2000 lbs with 350 tongue weight.

Nope both of my jeeps are rated at 3500lbs - My yellow jeep is unlimited wrangler 4x4 well within the rating ;)

You could probablly build it lighter using 1/4 ply -3/4 foam - 1/4 ply sandwich construction

Ah ok, I googled jeeps for that age it gave me a 1000lbs for a wrangler and like 3500lbs for the bigger models. I have like 19 more payments till I can get rid of my car and go for a bigger one that can tow more weight. So I guess its a smaller travel trailer for now sigh lol

Deryk - using the technique described above - i built the Ladybug WW - which is larger and wider, more spacious - and weighs less by 100 lbs.

Hmmm that does give me some hope... I came across this http://rumicaravan.fortunecity.com/
I dont like the shape as much, Im wanting to design something looking more of a rectangle with a little bowed roof like a mini gypsy cart. Ive been reading on the td&ttt forums about the composite panels... interesting. I need to look at your newer trailer...thanks!
