Have you considered using EPDM for the roof??

Looked at the stuff - the white is only guaranteed for five years - black is out of the question - remember Texas heat! I don’t want to have to do this again. Compared the weights (remember that even the adhesive adds weight) and Aluminum (floated) will still be lighter. Thanks for the info

Well the aluminum is in, the windows are delivered, and the paneling is awaiting time for – DEMOLITION! Began necessary modifications for the new camper. The weekender had to go under the knife. It hard to say good bye to such a friend – but something must die for others to live – or so it has been said. We parted out all the electrical, trailer lights, insulation, and everything that was salvageable. It will be resurrected in the new build. Let the demolition begin!

Kit anyone? Ready to assemble

What’s left, I did find some water penetration on the floor – not much damage, but Mrs. starleen said that for the money get a new floor – so her word rules – get to spend even more money – gotta love a wife like that!

Should start the final assembly build this weekend

worked on the floor today - put down some vinyl sheet in preparation for mounting the walls this weekend - tired from removing the old tile - will post a picture :pictures: of the floor after a much deserved rest - One good point is that our new home has a larger garage so I can keep both jeeps and the camper in the garage! Guess this is now a build thread!

Here is shot of the floor. This time We went with sheet vinyl instead of the peel and stick tile – No seams (except for the wheel wells, but they will be hidden
Image

This time I added a little bow to the roof (as per advice of tonyj) to prevent sagging and small little lakes forming on the roof. Later I plan on skinning the roof and exterior with aluminum.

Here a picture of the door cutout. As you can see some of the paneling is already installed. BYW the walls are insulated with 3/ 4 inch foam sheeting
Image
And here is the door awaiting its new home!

Finally finished the roof and started the back wall. Did a cut out for the taillights and ran a new wiring harness for the trailer – the other one was butchered up. Finished the bed platform. It is a queen size and will sleep the three of us. And Yes, we have room for two more if needed – they get the floor!

It looks like a tight package for those on the floor.

Not really mike. I'm a "big Guy" The picture doesn't do a good job of showing an extra two feet after my legs end. Thanks for the input. Hope to have it finshed soon!

Finally some more progress. Sanded the seams and painted the camper. That’s not the color that it will be. It’s just a coat of paint to help protect the plywood since we are going to clad the thing in aluminum. It’s not absolutely necessary, but, heck I had the paint
Image

The door is now mounted and happily doing what it does best – open and close that is!

My attempt at homemade door trim

Here is an inside shot of the door all trimmed out (matchy matchy lines)

Now I have to wait a day or two (ok seven to be exact) for more money to come in! Time + money = build time

Must have been sleeping (zzzzzzz) :NC when this picture was taken!

Awaiting more work. Still need the ceiling installed, but that is another day. Once that is in I can finally close up the front and start bending and shaping aluminum! Whooo hoooo!~

Time to button her up and close off the front – the interior is done. Another check mark for Done!

Some interior shots

Big comfy bed

Air conditioner cut out – A shelf will be mounted above extending the whole width of the camper.
Image
Installing the roof – the aluminum is only 20 inches wide so I’m overlapping it in sections.
Image
Homemade bending Jig (basically two pieces of angle Iron and some clamps, but it works for me!
Image
Strong arm bending break – no cuts yet!

Rolling out the seams, Thanks Len for the advice

Roof Done – Checked off!
