It's been a while since I have posted pics, or worked on the build. I was taken out of commission for the last few weeks with a bad sinus infection. Then was busy earlier this week with commitments and getting things done outside such as mowing the yard etc.

I got back to building today, but here are some pics that I haven't posted yet.

I added spars to the roof.

After placing a piece of masonite across the spars, I found that they bowed inward a little. Tomorrow, I want to turn the spars vertically. This should take care of the bowing.

Then I started on the wheel wells by building the frame:

Image

To protect the masonite wall, I decided to cover with flashing. I put down some roof coating over the masonite then covered with the aluminum flashing:

Image

Then I folded the aluminum over the edges and tacked it up.

Edges tacked up:

Today I finished framing up the exterior (outside) part of the wheel wells. I used treated plywood for the exterior which will be covered with roofing compound.

Then I put sealant along the the interior of the framing.

I picked up this air conditioner at Wal-Mart yesterday. It was $98.

More tomorrow.

Didn't get as much time to work on the trailer that I wanted today.

I did reposition the roof spars to vertical:

Made the frame for the roof vent:

Then I insulated the wheel wells:

I started playing around with the miter cut settings on my table saw. I want to get the finished side of the wheel wells done next. Then cut out the bulkhead for the back wall.

Today I got the wheel wells finished off:

My brother dropped off a campstove that he found at a thrift store for $5.99.

Tomorrow, I want to work on the bulkhead for the cabin cabinets, and cut out the hole for the A/C.

I have had to step up the progress. We have reservations at Pirateland in Myrtle Beach, SC (that is if it didn't burn down last weekend in the forest fire) for the last week of July. I want to take it out for a few trial runs before then as Myrtle Beach is about 12 hours away.

I am shooting for "campable" by the first or second week of June. :worship:

:o :applause:  Looking great! I was wondering about the way you did the wheel wells.  Guess insulating didn't cross what is left of my mind. :? At the rate you are moving you will surly be campable. It is the little stuff that takes so long.

Tell me about it. If I hadn't of sandwiched the walls and the wheel wells (and the floor for that matter) and insulated it, I probably would have been closer to the finish mark by now. But my efforts should prove worth it in the long run.

Things should go quicker now (hopefully)

This weekend my brother came over and helped me get the back wall cut and placed. We also cut the hole out for the air conditioner. I still need to attach the wall with screws. Not sure if I will need to take it back out yet to cut any more holes.

Image

Image

Next we made a bracket to hold the air conditioner and built out the counter frame.

Image

Tonight I cut out the spars for the galley hatch. Didn't get any pics yet.

It's been awhile sice I posted pics. I framed out the front cupboard.

Image

Then I cut out the cupboard front.

Image

Then I made the doors.

Image

I still need to attach everything.

Image

Then I started framing the back cupboard.

Image

Between mowing, doing stuff around the house, and installing a new radio in the car, I did not have much more time this weekend to get more done.

Since my teardrop is not yet finished, I couldn't be like 75% of the users on this forum and go camping for the Memorial Day weekend.

So I stayed home and worked on my tear.

Got the rest of the back cabin cabinet framed and cut out. Then put in the tv and DVD player to test for fit. It fits perfectly!!

Image

Then I cut out the cabinet face, then coated all the cabinet pieces with oak gloss polyurethane.

Image

It doesn't look like I did much, but once the cabinet is all reassembled it will look like I did alot.

I still have another day yet left of the holiday weekend.

It's been awhile since I posted pics.

I got the back cabin cabinet doors/front/ and sides polyurethaned and installed.

Image

I also did the same for the front cabin cabinets. I had to build a box to accomodate the AC and DC power outlets for the front of the cabin. I still need to attach the top and outlet box once I run the wire.

Image

I also installed the inside ceiling. I still need to run wiring and add the lights, and also trim over the screws.

When checking the vent for fit, I realized that the predrilled holes for the vent flashing where farther out than my wood frame. So I had to extend the frame out a little.

Image

Then I started on the galley hatch. I still need to run horizonatal pieces in between the vertical spars to make it stronger.
