Roof installed

Postby shortgmanp » Mon Nov 09, 2009 6:26 pm

Ceiling and roof are not installed. Used 1.5 inch aluminum flat stock with screws every three inches. Sealed with butyl tape. Looks pretty good. It has been slow moving since I started back to work, but I have three days off this week and hope to make a dent in it. I have posted a few new pics of the build. Thanks Greg

5 x 10

Postby shortgmanp » Tue Nov 10, 2009 10:53 pm

She is 5 x 10 and looking to a good size for us. I think there will be plenty of room. It will not be complete, but I plan on using it Nov 19 till the 22 on a hunting trip. The galley will not even be started, but it should be a good place to sleep. Thanks for the compliments. Greg

shortgmanp, did you lay the roofing material right onto the spars and insulation? Is that painted aluminum? Just curious.

your build is looking good

Yes

I layed the roof directly on the spars and insulation. And yes the aluminum is painted with a semismooth pearl white paint. My dad's good freind has an aluminum siding company. I was set on just bare aluminum until talking to him. He had a roll of this painted aluminum and told me that he would sale it to me for 20 bucks for what I needed and have his men help us put z strips in the joints and seal it for us. Hey I could not say no to that, so it is white. Beats the heck out of 150 bucks for bare aluminum. I am so grateful to find a deal like that. We tipped the guy who helped me, so the total cost was 40 dollars. Not bad :awesome:
