Cloud 9 Diner or Rob & Linda's Lil' Haven? Maiden Voyage

Postby rwelp » Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:56 pm

Finally started my tear build about a week ago. Started with a trailer I got off craigslist for $125 back in Nov. '09. It's going to be a 5x10 in the style of Mike's Lil Diner.

Had my brother in law modify it for me to accomodate a drop down floor. Still need to sand and paint it.

Floor

I ripped down 2x4x10's down to a true 1" thickness, used gorilla glue and pocket hole screws to assemble sub frame, glued and nailed 1/2" ply to the wooden frame and painted with black acrylic paint.

I then filled in with 1" pink foam insulation.

Today I added 1/4" luan to the bottom for a sandwiched floor and coated with spar varnish. It will get 2 or 3 more coats of varnish to protect the bttm. I did not want to use the black goo.

It looks to be an excellent foundation. You're off to a solid start!

Looking forward to watching your build. The Lil' Diner is a great design.

Thanks Burke,
It won't be exactly like Mike's Lil Diner. I'm using a different profile and incorporating the drop down floor and raised bed design.

Got some more shop time in today and finished the drop down floor with walls for the raised bed. I built it just like the floor with sandwich wall construction with insulation. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get it bolted to the trailer frame. 8)

Just a short note to update my build. I got the outer walls cut out and am in the process of framing. No pics yet. I will post some when the framing is complete. ;)

I guess they would be if I left them that way, but I'll get around to putting jacks on them eventually, if I can find 'em cheap enough. LOL

Nice, I like the profile.

What are your overall dimensions? It looks like you are close to 11'.

Dry fitted the walls tonight. didn't have much time to get them glued permanently. Hopefully I'll have more time tomorrow night.
