Starting Our First Build

Postby crazyhorse » Tue Feb 23, 2010 1:04 am

Well we are finally starting to build on our teardrop. I located an old RV frame from a demo guy. I drove the frame into work, where I cut down the frame to size and relocated the axle. (That was last year)

I decided to train for a marathon....that took most of my free time and the frame sat....waiting. I finished a marathon (check in box) now to build a teardrop.

When I cut the frame to size I took the outriggers completely off, you can see the addition of 2x4 PT on the outside frame rails. I should have cut the outriggers to size. Oh well.

I went back to the RV demo guy and picked up windows and exterior door frame. The exterior door was cut down to the size I wanted (34" tall X 30" wide). My original thought was a 24" wide door, I'm glad I went larger.

OK, your up to date with the little details.....here are the photos as of today.

Siding Purchased

Postby crazyhorse » Thu Feb 25, 2010 10:48 pm

Well, since Monday through Friday is for my 'other job' the actual production of our teardrop comes to a halt during the week. Updates I can tell you about is the purchase of the aluminum skin. I have a friend who has a friend who was able to locate 4x10 sheets of .040 aluminum for me at $56 each! I am excited to have that material in my shop....the siding purchase was a hurdle and am happy it's behind me.....I can focus on the build!

2/27/10 - you can kind of see where I'm trying to go with the galley. Today I also realize that I'll need to have more backers.

How did that fish picture get in there... did you take the unfinished teardrop to the lake? :?
