New Build, Cabin Car (new photo bin) 9/12/2010

Postby GaryW » Sat Mar 27, 2010 9:05 pm

Here's my plan for a Cabin Car.

Overall length 192"
Body length 144"
Center of wheel from rear 33"
15" wheels
Tounge length 48"
tounge weight 200 lb
Total weight 2000 lb
main frame width 55"
overall body width 79"
body height 71"

I posted some photos, I am starting on the frame:

I got Cabin Fever

UPDATE: 3/27/10
The frame is from an old Skyline, Nomad trailer 1974,
I cut the frame to narrow it today, I'm surprised that it wasn't as heavy
as it looks, it's a boxed 2"x 5" and thiner then I expected. I only cut one side of the cross braces, I'll use the new axle to set the frame width,
We are to have rain the next few days so I don't know if I'll get to weld it back together.
I'll post photos tomorrow.

update 4/14/2010
i got the frame back into one peice, I'll try to reverse my wheels, I think their a neg-offset rim, anyway I'll post new photos by 4/18.

Cool frame! I like what you've done with it so far -- the original was WAY more than you needed.
