H-Balm's Trailerbed

Postby H-Balm » Sat Apr 03, 2010 1:21 pm

I'm in!

Somehow, years ago, I stumbled onto the 4 syllables, Teardrop Trailer, while sifting the internet on a rainy day. I smirked... and thought, "Look at these things". I then saw some more pictures, neat. Then, I found this forum. So.... people build these things. Regular people!

I'm regular (no comments wiseguys)!
I decided then that someday I would build my own teardrop.

Since then, life has pulled me away from the thought, and I continued on without a trailer. Recently, something made me come back to this topic, destiny!

After more and more reviewing. More and more reading. I got myself convinced.... we can make this happen. This weekend I just ordered my trailer. I have gone from a dream to reality. In a few weeks I will have a couple hundred pounds of steel "reality" to deal with!

So it has begun.
H-Balm is beginning a build.

If that's an image of you in your avatar, then I really don't think "regular" applies :)
Welcome to the builder's club. I bet ya can't stop at just one

I got home yesterday and found two really beat up boxes containing my trailer.

Need to figure out the picture posting details.... perhaps this weekend.

Got some work done.
I am finally seeing progress (pictures will follow).

Here's something I learned.....

No matter how many times you hear it....
No matter how many times you think about it....
No matter what planning you do...

YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY CLAMPS!!!

The day I came home to find the teardrop trailer endeavor was REAL!

Little scared of the trauma this baby saw on the way to my house!

Though she was scared, I told my wife she must partake a little every so often, so that we can legitabetily say it was OUR project.

Great tool, that saw!
It cut the floor board... 3/4" ply? (was so long ago I forgot)
Image

Did it! She's done! Well.... still a little left.

Drilling a spot for the frame bolt to fit.

The underside of the floor sits on a wooden frame.

Looking good!

From the looks of the toes in the pic, you are a young couple;
so, you probably are still "regular" people.
Nuttin' us "old" folks like about being "irregular" people :poop:
