Our "Little Tow" is started!

Postby OuttaHand » Mon Jul 05, 2010 8:18 am

I bought the Northern Tool 5'x8' trailer a year-and-a-half ago. Last summer "things" interfered and could not get going on the actual build. But this past May I got rolling on construction.

I'm maintaining a web site which I'm keeping up-to-date with my build activity: http://webpages.charter.net/outtahand/littletow/index.htm

Here's my original plan:

What the plan does NOT show is that I'm also putting a dual-pane trailer window and a powered vent in the roof.

This is my first trailer build (other than a scratch-built car hauler) so if anyone has any good suggestions, please post your suggestions & comments!!!

Looking at the picture , it could do with some wheels

Unless you have a way of hovering it to the camp site

Only joking mate, we all start somewhere, and all my plans were in my head, :applause:

WHEELS ! ? ! ? Who says a trailer needs WHEELS ! ? ! ?

I live in Wisconsin! I'm putting skis under it for the world's first teardrop sleigh!!!

Actually, the wheels aren't there because when I drew out the design I did not know what the weight and balance would be. I didn't know if I was going to have to move the axle in order to get the proper balance. So far, it looks like I won't have to move it. The stock location seems perfect right now. In the end, I'll have 40# to 50# of marine deep-cycle battery to put in. I can place that front or rear depending upon how my balance is looking at the time.

Just an update. I've basically stopped work for the winter. I'm at a point where the budget needs a little replenishing and the temperature is dropping. I had hoped to go camping with the "Little Tow" yet this year but that's not going to happen. Still no doors or hatch on it.
Here's how it looks right now . . .. .

Image
The nose is covered with "fiber-flannel". It's epoxy resin on flannel instead of fiberglass mat. It's kind of a long story. You can get that whole story, and the rest of the stories, by checing my build log. . . . . .

Here's a another pic . . . .

And here's a nice shot of the interior showing the ceiling.. . .

Again --- you can see the whole build log with lots of pictures by clicking this address:

If you have any comments or suggestions, let me know!
