Kit/Popular Mechanix restore

Postby aridgway » Mon Nov 22, 2010 5:13 pm

I finally got the pics of the "project" I am going to restore in my personal album under aridgway. The camper is now stripped to the frame. The sides and top, doors and kitchen gear are all in the flat. The skins are in decent shape and the doors are restorable. I can use the skins and the old wood for templates. Trailer is in good shape and has the old-school jeep wheels on it. Still had the old 16-6.00 firestones on it. Old school firestones are expensive, may go with NDT jeep tires. Gonna be fun!

Very cool aridgway! I can't wait to see more of your frame up restoration.

Thanks

Thanks so much for the encouragement. I have noticed people on this site are very considerate. You can see why I got this trailer for free. All it needs is every piece of wood replaced. Simple. Ha! The little jewel seems to be a popular mechanix trailer for two, being 9'7" long. But, it has all the hardware from a kit kamper. Wheels, stove, doors, butane tank, ice box. Also has a sink and water tank. Woo! Hoo!

here is the bare bones of the trailer. Going to knock off 3 of the leaf springs, too heavy. Caused the ttrailer to bend.
