Got the wife down to the shop to try the ramp, thought it may be a problem, was a little too steep and with her hip replacement and MS she couldn't climb it, even with a grab handle. So back to the drawing board I went. As the snow is melting a bit found a set of bent trailer steps in the scrap pile, romoved them from the bent stair box and modded my ramp mount and managed to mount the steps, should work, much nicer for entry and exit.

Now I'm working on a treadplate cabinette on the back wall to hold a fold down counter for the wash basin and coleman stove.
Should be about a 21" by 36" counter, will be right beside the outside shower so will have hot & Cold water at the cook center

Image

Man, startin to get the itch, I wanna go camping

One of my customers saw it and asked me about it, Told him it was mine, and he said, Thats Your Hot Rod is it?
Stickin in my brain, thinkin rename from SportFX to Hot Rod....Hmmmm Definatly has a Hot Rod Feel to it

I was reading your post and got distracted by something else (nitro funny cars). When I came back the first thing I saw was this pic...

... and my first thought was the back end of a fire truck? You know, real attention getter with the red and polished diamond plate.

I think 'Hot Rod' is a much more appropriate name and would not hesitate to recommend that you change it to that!

Fire trucks ARE hot rods in my book!

And now I see the hot rod logo in your gallery. GO FOR IT!!!

Are you going to do some kind of removable or swing-away
trailer mounted handrail for the new stairs ?

e.g.:
http://www.trailerlife.com/trailer-how- ... -handrail/
http://www.sears.com/stromberg-lend-a-h ... 814883000P

At the last RV show I went to a couple years ago, you really needed
one to get into all the way-to-high 5th wheels and such.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

Have to wait untill I find time to finish the cabinette, it comes right to the door frame so no room for a foling rv grab. Alot depends on how I hinge the door as to what I have to dream up...All in good time

Nice!

Nostalgia funny cars are so cool. I went to a nostalgia event at Englishtown and they did a cackle fest. So cool. Also, Bruce Larsen did an unlicensed 1/2 pass in his USA-1 Camaro (roll cage was not up to current std's). Funny thing was he stayed in the throttle well into 3/4 of the track.

Thanks for the cool pic.

Re: Hot Rod...Put a Skirt on

Postby Martiangod » Mon Nov 11, 2013 7:32 pm

Well been out in the west for a year now, how time flies.
Got a wack of weekend camping in.
Was bored today and a stat holiday to boot, so I brought the Hot Rod in from the cold for the day, only minus 19 today.
Was tired of Hot Rod showin er knickers so figured it was time to put a skirt on her.
Used composit sign board with aluminum skin on both side, awesome stuff to work with, would love to do a whole trailer outa this stuff, cuts like butter. Wife thinks it looks good, I think there is something missing...

Maybe a Mr Fusion ... lol

Then I rebuilt the box on the back I started way back when. It houses an extra extension cord, Water hose and a few blocks for the wheels
I think it turned out alright

Well that was my day, pulled her out and hooked it up

Re: Hot Rod...Revisited!!!

Postby Martiangod » Sun Jun 15, 2014 10:33 pm

Well, lookin at it finally got the best of me....lol
As much as I like having the awnings and all, I hated all the white,
I'm not much for too much and the diamond plate is quite enuff, I had to finally do something to tone it down
So I painted out all the rv corners, water heater, fridge vent and awning hardwares.
Two toned the trailer instead of the 4 colours it was.
Pulled every exposed screw and paint them black, and then hand cut some decals.
Been a long day, started bout 6;30 this morning, finished bout 7 tonight.
Just have the white door on the back to deal with, think its gonna be red and silver\

So went from a little bit too busy, to a more HotRoddish look

This

To This

Think I may do some changes in the interior soon, have to wire my LED awning lights n both sides.
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is

Some days I want to build a new one, but when I look at what I have already built. I smack myself
back into reality,
Its amazing what a day and some paint and 3 rolls of masking tape can do
It's just One more step closer to never being done
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is

Re: Hot Rod...Revisited!!!

Postby Martiangod » Sun Sep 28, 2014 1:10 pm

Couple minor updates in the quest to never being done
I did finish painting the back to go with the theme on the sides
And Branded her Hotrod :)

Image

Bought some accessories
Found a Coleman grill, perfect match for the camper , silver on the bottom, red on top, but after using it it got religated to the scrap pile.
What a piece of garbage, oh well, stick to the Egg BBQ

Image
Retired the old coleman stove when I found this Camp Chef Teton stove, Red on bottom and silver on top
and it works awesome, way better then the coleman

Image

Now we had been tarping in for the summer which worked out well, shower room and the left and sitting out on the right

Image

But there had to be a better way, so been on the lookout all summer and scored
a tent trailer add-a-room for $100 on Friday.
Don't think its been used more then once, in perfect condition.
Spent yesterday fitting it to the trailer, I think it will work

Image

And found this summer after buying a Camp Chef Redwood firepit that it is safe on out ground mat and under the awning
So after fitting the room yesterday we sat out in below freezing weather with a fire and a few wobbly pops in our new room.
And pictures lie, that's not really coffee, |OK, maybe it was but I did switch to wobbly pop after the fitting

Image

Oh, and I had also installed blue LED light to three sides, sides bot awning length and on over the door

Image
And I think I poisoned the minds of a co-worker and her husband, they're gonna build now....lol
Almost 3 years and over 20,000 miles, two winter cross country runs and still camping and turning heads.
Don't get that from store boughts
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is
